Sign #1 of Dusk being a good(sort of) parent, he saved Silver's life.

Why did Ashes shoot a Hyper Beam at his daughter again?
Looks like both the combatants have anger issues. Dusk shot down a tree because he spilled his coffee and has been generally trigger-happy for the entire comic thus far, and Ashes shot a Hyper Beam at his daughter because... It's not really clear. I was sympathetic to him up until now, because Dusk is an asshole and started the fight, but this did not relate to what Dusk did at all.
We seem to be forgetting about the big boom that started all of this, haha.
Good comic so far!

That's a good question with a simple answer. When someone is attacked in their most vulnerable spot, they will build one of two emotions: Depression or Rage. You continue to build on it until eventually you become lost in the emotion, causing you to either attack everything in sight or the alternative. That is called Blinded with Rage.
Seems like Dusk pushed Ashes to the point of blind rage.

I agree with you up until the point where you say they attack everything in sight. (Or the alternative. What do you call the alternative, by the way?) I have seen many alternatives to this in real life and in fiction, enough to be convinced that assuming that a specific person or character would strike out at anyone in anger will probably be incorrect. I'm mostly uncomfortable with the fact that we have learned of personality traits like this in the middle of battles, and in this case, in the worst possible way short after the character was introduced.
To put it another way: family bonds are strong, and all indications thus far were that Ashes cared for Silver. He had every reason not to aim at her. What would make him disregard those? Just rage? Rage might be strong, but he was not provoked that much. Was there another cause? Because something had to give him a powerful reason or make him ignore reason, and I do not believe, from what I have seen of Ashes, that Dusk's provocation alone was enough.
Haha. I should probably be asking Gibby this, but I figured the answers would come out on their own in the comic eventually.

I'll just wait to see what happens in the comic. There may be a better explanation

¡Viva Dusk! .

I hope Ashes calms down, he's so cool, plus it would be a shame for Dusk to beat him when he was such an asshole.
