It's quite simple, see darkness as a misused element, and not the source of Evil itself. To me, Evil just happened to choose darkness to affiliate itself with.

Evil can be in light form as well, I've seen it before. Good and Evil is not bound by Dark and Light, coincidentally, they simply cannot exist without their counterparts.
