Description
my new OC, specially for RJace group
since she is now an official OC for RJace group, i named her Yuuhi (evening sun/ great achievement)

oho~ i noticed something about the lineart, its very pixel-ish (not clean). what kind of software did you use for it?
overall color always play important part in making moods for the artwork, in your work the color look a bit dull and flat (depending on your program, you might want to play with gradients as well).
well, i'll count it as your art style, but i need to know your software first :u

I use MS Paint for lineart and flat color, and Pixlr.com for shading

:U MS paint.. thats very limited, and paint always make irregular dotted-pixellate line. why not try use other software like paint tool SAI? or even freeware like GIMP?

I've always been nervous about downloading software on the computer, especially since it's not mine :U And I just feel like the drawing would turn out worse in the end since I'm not used to the program :U

there's many criteria for voting, but we mostly focus on the coloring part. i take it as you're new to digital painting, but you have a good skill with traditional, as i can see the well placed shadow, smooth lighting, and good mixture of color (in fact, i'm pretty sure it would be a better idea if you prefer to stick with traditional)
try make some reference on how to put on correct shadow/lighting, and also put more effort on anatomy (especially hand part, use reference if needed). and yeah, hand part can be bit hard, most people critique on my hand-drawing part, but reference make improvement xD
also, as a wise man once said, "it need more MOE!", i'd recommend you make their eyelash thicker (for the sake of MOE, they said)
try make lots of reference, it would help a lot. but so far i saw 2 things that would need to be fixed, the coloring part (especially on shadow) and anatomy (eye, hand).

naw, no need to redo it in traditional actually. but given you're new to digital painting, it'll be great if you could focus on learning, especially with coloring by layers part, but the thing is i'm not sure where to start.
how do you usually color using sai? all in one layer, or stack few layers?
anyway, lets try do some shading/lighting practice, try use some layer mode such as "overlay", "luminosity" and "multiply", on top of a normal layer (base color)

Hmm...I usually put lineart in one layer, then keep coloring on top of that. At the end though, I flatten the picture because of the settings on my computer.

playing and experimenting would be much more better than my words, try play with layers and modes, you can get a very nice coloring from this
multiply: usually for shadow
overlay: usually used to make color gradient/warm/cold
luminosity: for lighting, just small amount will do

So basically, I should work on lighting, anatomy (esp. Hands), eyelashes, and remove background? When you say color, does that mean adding more colors to the shading?
I decided to try digital art because I was warned that the traditional should be wih Copics (or some media like that which makes it look digital), and I don't have enough copics or smooth enough coloring for that, and I'm slow at traditional. I'll make traditional version though and see how it goes. ^^

For digital art, I have paint tool Sai and Paint.net. I use paint.net for some things like linearting since I find it harder on Sai. I use the mouse for linearting and shading, but I draw the sketch and scan it.
