Description Ever thought of what the life of a trucker was like? I got to admit, sometimes I envy those who can live a simple life where I can just forget about things for a while and remember just how beautiful this world is, but at the same time in order to do that, it's almost a rejection of the intelligence that's granted to us because we all know this world can be a pretty bad place. I know I go on a lot about this, but I really feel like it's a calling: use what is given to you so you can benefit others!

You could have used f/8 or f/16 instead.

Yeah probably, guess I wasn't thinking too much of aperture at the time, just more of getting the right exposure.

... the aperture is the most important out of all...

Genesis-Orbit In reply to couleur [2008-09-23 07:22:13 +0000 UTC]

Depends on what you're going for lol, if a properly exposed photograph is what's important to me in this shot, then shutter speed typically is the most important. Aperture just changes the magnification and how much light gets into the camera, and when I shoot with a lens like this, a small hint of out of focus isn't going to disturb me a whole lot.

couleur In reply to Genesis-Orbit [2008-09-23 09:59:02 +0000 UTC]

Nope. Aperture changes the depth of field. Just in case you did not realize, shutter speed is just to compensate it. All of it measures and how much light you want the camera get.

Genesis-Orbit In reply to couleur [2008-09-23 15:44:47 +0000 UTC]

Depth of field, yes, I said magnification man lol, the more magnification, the smaller the depth of field. The reason everything in f/16 is in focus is because the aperture is so small there is no chance for magnification so everything is in focus.

but i dont really see the point of using f/4.3 all the way or 3.5 Since you have so much shutter left. Like some of your landscapes. the effect on 1/60-1/8000 will be the same if you are standing, but f/4.3 and f/22 or more is a bigger difference...

Genesis-Orbit In reply to couleur [2008-09-23 17:38:18 +0000 UTC]

Well, I guess my reason for shooting at such a fast shutter speed was because I was in a moving car on the interstate going about 70 miles per hour lol. Don't want the shutter to be too slow you know?

I have lol, just don't like to do it broad daylight, Nikon doesn't have as good noise reduction as canon.

I love that a simple image can provoke so much thought. I agree wholehearted with your caption re. using our talents. I know it's a message that we all should know already, but it needs to be said/read again and again anyway.

lovely lovely photo aswell.

you ever get passed by a Semi on the interstate while you're in this tiny little thing and it's right next to you and it feels like the opening scene of STAR WARS for a second?

...

yeah, sometimes I wonder what it would be like to just while the hours away, unfortunately, I start falling asleep after only a couple of hours behind the wheel, so I wouldn't be too good at that job

Yeah I thought about becoming a trucker and know a few in the business haha. The problem is being a trucker with a static route--that wouldn't be much fun. Most CDLs just travel one route (distribution centers to distribution centers for example) so it would be a little rhetorical after a while. I'd want to be one of the guys that goes from coast to coast in one trip and did different routes every month.

There are a handful of truckers who put sprint cards in their laptops and a webcam facing out the window... [link] it's a really catchy concept haha

life of a trucker...sux, so much responsibility, almost no time spent with the family...mostly on the road. but yes, we have been granted many, if not all. our own imagination is the limit. failure is a step to succeeding also not many people think about others outside their family, its mostly themselves...selfish bastards lol ohh well...thats life on earth for ya right there

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Genesis-Orbit In reply to Silent-M [2008-09-18 17:15:36 +0000 UTC]

Maybe it's the best life for a single man lol, but yeah I can imagine it would be hard if you had a family. But yeah, it bothers me when people treat life as this big race to get to the top of the hill before everyone else.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silent-M In reply to Genesis-Orbit [2008-09-18 18:20:44 +0000 UTC]

a single older man...probably yes. but the race is definetly something a bunch of people should think about. its not all about money and fame. i feel good playing in a low cool key(laid back, cool, minding my own business) as well as in a high one(attracting attention and such). others have a mentality that they have to be the best and the coolest and make the most cash. sad...its a disease we cant cure...yet.
