This is a really beautiful piece of work, and I truly love it! I have a question that I've always wanted to ask abstract artists but I've never had the nerve before, but I'm going to ask you! ^_^ I don't expect step by step instructions, but how do you go about constructing something like this? The way all the different lines and shapes and colors flow together gives it a fluid look while still remaining wild and energetic. How is something like this even assembled?

Besides what's explained in the video, lots of blurring is involved and other filters you can use, and of course transform tool. It'll explain transformers for the most part in the tut

Used Cinema 4D for the 3d, and I used Photoshop for the brushing/atmosphere.
