Description
Beautiful Song first off. Well I got to give jay a lot of credit on this one. I'll sort through the process.-I started the peice off making the terragen render and the shift into space.
-He made the scene below making a very impressive incorperation of buildings, birds, power lines, and space ships.
-I started work on space, making the larger nebula to the right and adding a few planets.
-A few parts of mine got scrapped cause it was unbalanced and he made the 2nd sun in the center of the peice, and moving planets and making the atmopshere
-I touched up the nebula, removed some stuff and added another nebula on the top left, an asteroid belt, and the large planet below.
He'll be submitting his version tomorrow so make sure to check it out.
Never had to argue so hard for a title before in my life lol. I think it suits the peice very well despite what Jay said lol. Anyways, I really hope you like viewing this peice, almost 200 layers went into this sucker. Enjoy!

Edit: Edited the size for the print cause they won't print my work if the porportions of the preview aren't the same as the print. And I scaled it down a tad for easier loading time for the poor 56k'rs

I agree, but the main thing was, the area did seem empty without it. Even if it isn't 100% accurate, I think it helped out to put something there

one problem though, on the big planet you forgot to erase the sun that came through. Lal, looks a bit ridicilous IMO
Congrats on the DD anyway.

Brialliant, except for the sun! That's all wrong ... You can't both have sun and planet on the same place ...

Yea you're right, that's pretty unrealistic but I mainly put it in there because it looked good.

Simply stunning man! My ONLY critique is that the sun from the tg render is infront of the big planet, if it wasn't for that, this would be perfect! Again, amazing job!

stars in front of planets! It doesn't make any sense!

Yea it does, starts are in front of planets, shows depth, not too hard to understand

But the light from the star is not reflecting off the planet. the light source of the planet is coming from a star farther away and less bright than the terragen star. The only instance that a star could be this small if it is a dwarf or a neutron star, both of which has blown up in either a supernova or a red giant, and such catalysm would no less destroy the planets. But why is this atmosphere, or even grass I see? Unless of course, the planet behind the star is gigantic, in which case it would have undergone fusion can became a star itself, if not the great pressure on its core would have produced so much heat that it is at least a protostar. This "Yea it does, starts are in front of planets, shows depth, not too hard to understand" is a bad excuse.
Also, there are at least 8 planets in that pic and they all have different light sources! are they not in the same solar system? They must be! If not how are they even visible? Stars are usually a few lightyears away from each other, especially those who harbour planets. If the planets are visible, shouldn't the light from all those star make it all the planets rather than just the one closest to it on the picture?

If you want to get technical, this scene couldn't even exist since no one sees planets that large from a mountain range. Yes there are a lot of different light sources, but you need to think of depth of the field, they aren't all the same distance away from eachother from the viewers eye.
Thw way you said " stars in front of planets! It doesn't make any sense!" implied to me that stars can not be in front of planets in any case. No you shouldn't be able to see them in front of planets, but that doesn't mean they're not there. It's science fiction art, the beauty in this art is you don't need to be 100% accurate, hence the fiction. Throw away the deep technacilities and just enjoy the viewing pleasure.

If I really wanted art with nothing but form, I would have looked at abstract or non-objective. But I doubt those are what you are trying to do, since you certainly have put a lot of time on the details of this piece. But of course, since it is fiction, you could explain away the conflicting light sources as dark nebulas that blocks the light from the various stars from reaching the other parts of your work. Or that the terragen sun is really just a giant glowing space jelly fish.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Different people regard art differently. I have expressed my opinions, take it as you will.

I can understand where you are comming from, no hard feelings, but my attitude is just like, if the majority of the peice is realistic in terms of how believeable it is, then I'm not going to make too big of a deal out of it.

Love the bottom part, but I think the nebulas could use some work. Make them more impactful. They're just kind of there taking up space (no pun intended ). Make the nebula like

some really good work here the part that bothers me is you can see a sun on the horizon of the landscape, but there's a planet there, I doubt a planet can be big enough to be behind a sun like that. same with seeing the stars through it as it fades.
