Turn of the Century Occult Hero Punisher.

Abraham Castle lost his faith fighting in the Second Boer War. He no longer believed in the Service, no longer believed in the Crown, and no longer believed in a God that would allow such atrocity to go unpunished. He mustered out as soon as he could, and rejoined a family that, due to his long time abroad, he'd scarcely known. There he found a sort of peace, a quieting of the mind and spirit. He began to allow himself to believe in something again...

Until that too came to an end. Having accidentally borne witness to a hideous magical ritual conducted by a cabal of criminal businessmen, his child was murdered by cruel unholy beings from beyond, and his wife's mind was utterly shattered.

The meaninglessness of it all was like a revelation to Abraham. If God would not avenge his family and punish those who committed great evil, then he would.

Abraham is just a dude with extensive training and a chip on his shoulder, up against a bunch of superpowered Para-naturals. So I needed to make him well-supplied at least.

Abraham is packing a huge modified howdah pistol, a Lee-Enfield rifle, a C96 Mauser pistol, a knife, and a modified 1897 pattern British Infantry Officer's sword.

His vest is a leather vest of the sort used by metal workers, but stitched with a Jolly Roger. Its intent is to inspire terror and also remind them of the flag's original meaning: "Surrender or die".
