I see a very forest-y/plant life theme with his clothing and utility in the floral effects on the knife and bag.
I also like how the same colours are used, but they are spread throughout the design such as the matching gloves and shoes.
I don't know what the flower thing to the side is, but I like how the centre jewel is similar (but not the same) as his eyes.

Yes, I was hoping to give some indications of his background with the items he has, though, unlike most of the characters from the same place he lives in, he came from a different place originally. Only one set of items is influenced by that difference in background.
And good, that means that I remembered my classes in character creationΒ and image balance.
I also believe you are the first person to comment on the similarity between the jewel and his eyes. Β The flower-shaped object is a musical instrument called an ocarina. They can be made in many different shapes and sizes, so I had some fun with its design. The similarity of the color of the jewel actually has more to it than just repeating of a color scheme, so I'm happy that you noticed that it is not quite the same color. Β It's always nice to know that people catch on to the subtle thinks that you spent time thinking on. ^.^

Yeah, it's mostly a utility/wilderness knife. Can be used for all kinds of things. Β He can fight with it if need be as well.

Yes. SAI has the ability to do vector line art. I wish it could vector color as well, but the line tools really come in handy.
