At last, I have finally gotten around to finishing a complete design for this poor fellow. He's been waiting on one for so long. In fact, I think it was several years ago that I held the contest to help with ideas for him.It's not that I have not tried to do this before now, but all of my past attempts just felt uninspired and I did not like them. One reason for this was that the character himself was in a terrible need to being redesigned and refined. Once I had a better looking starting point, completing his outfit was far easier.
A bit challenge was figuring out what patterns to keep. I knew I wanted some, and the group he's part of tend to dress in rather complex clothing compared with most of my other characters, but I did not want it to be over powering either, especially with all of the bright colors. I ended up simplifying the design even further than what I was originally going to do.

You already know my feedback, but I think you did a splendid job on combining elements you like into an awesome redesign! I like his generally spikier and fluffier look and the little changes you made, which makes him look very authentic for the setting he's in! ovo

Yeah, I had never really been happy with the spine design he had in the previous iteration, and I knew his body still wasn't right. I also liked the cheek fluff he had going on, and decided it was a shame to cover it up. I wanted a fluffier look to better fit with the idea that the Ale'nodai tend to have longer, wilder looking fur when compared with the Hedgehogs of the mainland. If his elbows or legs were bent, I might have done some little fur tufts as well where the bends occurred. It's not just that he's fluffier, but they all are.

It's really great how you can not only pinpoint WHAT it is that bothers you, but are also great at analyzing WHY it does and then figure out what measurements to take in order to improve a design. That's why your designs always feel so spot-on! ovo

Ouron looks amazing! You definitely struck a very good balance between the complex and the simple in the end. I'm happy I convinced you to keep a few of the complexities, though; as you don't want to overpower it, you don't want to oversimplify it, either. (also, I know I completely swung and missed when trying to design a look for this guy in that contest, but it all turned out very well in the end!) So yeah, well freaking done.

Thanks for the comment, Vulkano. It took me a good while to figure out how I wanted to do it and still had the to ask a few if my friends which version I should go with.
I saw your more recent character post and almost boggled at all of the comments you got. How do you do that? I'm lucky to get just a few. And thank you for often being one of them.
