Description
This lovely lady (I'm guessing it is a girlI have always known this as an orb weaver but, I found out it is actually known as a Barn Spider (Araneas cavaticus). E.B. White used a barn spider for the character Charlotte in "Charlottes' Web" very cool and I can see why

They are unbelievably well programmed by mother nature as fabulous weavers and predators. True children of Grandmother Spider.
spirits bless,

Egggkk. Those awful things live near my house too. I have learned to never leave laundry out from October-December or there will be a surprise in my clothes
Nice capture though, I wouldn't be bold enough to get that close...or even use a power zoom.

Well they are handy at keeping the bugs down but, I wouldn't want them in my laundry either
Thank you

"Right," says the spider. "If I hold this bit here and that bit just.... there, and then I... Dammit! I've dropped a stitch somewhere!"
Great shot! Looks as though she's trying her hardest to keep that web from untangling on her

they certainly ar facinating to watch. It amases me how strong these webs are (bar encounters with tripods) and the distances they can cover. We had one that use to set up her web between two palm tress about 2 meters apart. Always deserted by morning though.

I agree very strong. On the occasion I had the misfortune of walking through one of their webs I seriously thought it was a black widow web (a black widow web has a distinct feel and are very strong hard to get off of you from the stickiness of it) which has made me go into complete frenzy mode. I find it amazing too how big they can get and the distance covered by them. I still haven't figured out how they get that first line going attaching from one object to another at such a distance. Truly an intrigueing creature.

It certainly does... i was looking forward to time slowing down for us now.... yeah right! Maybe in a couple of years ... seem to have been saying that for a few too.
We were without our lights for a few days ealier last week... it was nice with just the lamps on & the candles all going, it felt much more homely... if you know what i mean.
Your welcome
