Description

Even before the days of the Holy Nation of Truth and its crusade for the salvation of mortalkind, those of the Blazing Sun Galaxy knew that eventually a new frontier was yet to be conquered: extragalactic space. Though warp portal technology revolutionized travel between known coordinates, it required charting these coordinates before it could work; for that, a ship is needed capable of such long distance travel near light speeds.

Unfortunately, because of the UCS' stagnant corruption, seeing little profit in such a venture, development never went far. However, with the HNT having a real purpose for exploration beyond their galactic border, research continued to search for a spacecraft with a fuel efficiency allowing it to reach great distances. After many (sometimes tragically)failed prototypes, the first ramscoop engine was developed, and the P.38 experimental swing-wing VTOL spacer was deemed an apt spaceframe to put the new engines to the test, becoming the P.39(or Prototype 39.)

The with a kickstart of a small fuel reserve, the ship was able to achieve and maintain stable spaceflight through ramscoop technology, taking matter from space, compressing them into fuel, and igniting them in nuclear fusion, becoming more efficient as speed increased. However, ramscoops have drawbacks; they still need an initial fuel source to start, were very slow to accelerate compared to standard laser ablation engines, and are prone to flaming out at low speeds. Nevertheless, the technology was deemed a success.

Unfortunately, the one P.39 prototype in itself was deemed too complicated and unstable of spaceframe, being prone to flameouts when landing, and having difficulty landing in enclosed hangars. Likewise, it was too small to complement long term voyages. Its legacy would live on, however, as the first ship that traveled to another galaxy, and the ship that would lead to P.40, which would lead into the P.41, which did get approved for production, and was renamed to the M-41Deep Space Recon starship: the HNT's primary starship for explorers, scouts, and pioneers, renown for its range, reliability, and modular versatility.

The P.39 could be considered the grandfather of all extragalactic spacetravel for the HNT: the flagship of a new era where the Eternal Crusade expanded beyond just the Clepathians and Klannphayar.
