Description
This is a commission for , who is amazing. The character featured here's name is Reich (and his little...white...crittery...sidekick, Honig). Their description and the source reference can be found [link] <---there.As a tribute to Eriko's hometown, I put them in a sort of glowy city scape which is actually a photo of Portland which is MY hometown. WEEE!
PS Drawing guns gives me hemorraging and eczema. I used at least five different references. Ah well. Now I need topical creams...

You did really well with this. The only suggestion I would make would be to make the line quality a bit more dynamic... I dunno how to explain it. Just maybe use some more line weights?

That's one thing I have no idea how to do. I try to use different size brushes but...it just looks like one pen ran out of ink and the other pen was leaky.

Well..I use openCanvas to do my lineart in because Photoshop 7 doesn't really...do a very nice job at allowing my lines to taper. I've tried different settings but it just never works out. I do my coloring is PS.

if it's any consolation at all, i also can't draw guns - and i love them. the perspective was sooooo worth the rash, uncontrollable blood-loss, and the time it took.
the background is sweet and thanks for the hidden message and the homage... portland does look a bit vegas-y in your interpretation, haha!

The colors I did by doing regular shading and then an extra layer of highlights on one side. Then I did an extra extra layer of reflected light from a different source which gives the figure more volume (MOAR MOAR).
The blur effect I did by flattening the figure of the guy and his critter and then making a duplicate. The duplicate I blurred with Gaussian Blur in PhotoShop and then selected a soft eraser and erased the bits from the blurry layer that I wanted to be in focus. VOILA!
