Twilight's Main Shuttlebay, filled to capacity. This was during the Dominion War, note the Valkyrie starfighter parked behind two Type-9 shuttlecraft, all ready for launch within 30 seconds. Note, that theoretically, using the Main Hanger Bay, the Main Cargo Bay emptied of cargo, and Cargo Bay 3, up to a total of 15 auxiliary craft (counting 4 workbees and the Waverider shuttle) could be carried by a refit Nova Class starship. During the war, we carried three shuttlecraft and four Valkyries, when normally, we usually only carried three shuttlecraft. Cruise Mode rules call for a single shuttlecraft to be at launch readiness in the Main Shuttlebay on Deck 4 at all times, while below on Deck 5, in the cavernous 32-meter-long Cold Storage and Maintenance Bay, up to six Type-9 shuttlecraft could be stored. The Type-11's and larger are out of the question: they're simply too big! On Deck 3, in the Main Cargo Bay/Auxiliary Shuttlebay, two Workbees and a shuttlepod are usually parked. The Waverider, as large as a Runabout, fits neatly into its notch at the bottom of the primary hull. If the Twilight is participating in medical rescue operations, during peacetime, the 3 shuttlecraft are all stored on Deck 5, leaving the Main Shuttlebay empty to be used as a triage and treatment ward. This is to supplement the two permanent sickbays on Deck 3. Cargo Bay 2 can be converted into a third sickbay with an hour's notice, for treatment of non-humanoid lifeforms. Twilight's two holosuites (8m by 6m) can of course be any specialized sickbay or laboratory in an instant. All guest quarters, especially the 2 VIP cabins, can be converted into treatment wards. Thus, USS Twilight is well-equipped to handle any medical crisis in the Federation. When sent on planetary survey missions, she does so with an emphasis on finding new medicines. No surprise, that on her staff are two full-time doctors, not counting her captain (himself a medical officer with training in countering biogenic weapons) and an EMH. Plus two registered nurses and 5 medical technicians, and a third of the crew being cross-trained as field medics. All the rest of the crew are the usual scientists, engineers, and security personnel present on any starship.
