Description My sister has been asking me for a painting for a long time, to decorate my little nephew's room, so this is for Christmas. Maybe you know that I can't actually paint, and have next to no feeling for colour! In fact, I haven't painted anything since art class in school which was some 5 years ago, and never before on a canvas.. So this is a very naΓ―ve little *painting* but I think it's good enough to put in a kid's bedroom. I chose okapis so he would see some other animals than the ones that kids are usually exposed to, also they're very decorative and work well in pink!
I looked at some photos for the okapis, to get the shapes and stripes right, since I don't draw them often.
size: 30x40 cm.
medium: tempera on canvas
time taken: less than 2 hours

...I should really learn to paint

I'm in love with the pink! The loose style and warm, bright colors are really well suited for a kid's bedroom.

okapis are my favourite plant eating animals. pink is very extreme, but somehow it fits well
