Well, this ( ) didn't happen automagically. I'm just assuming Shepard wasn't aware of all the options while busy saving the entire galaxy... again.
And an explanation for the gratuitous amounts of Mass Effect babies appearing all over deviantart:
Nearly all of the ME3 reaction comics I've seen have a female in them, despite the statistics I've been able to dig up placing us as only in the high thirties to low forties percent of the gamer market. I don't doubt that nearly all of these (fill in the blank Mass Effect character) with baby pictures are drawn by women (myself included). Clearly the emotionally devastating ending of ME3 is part of a subtle, insidious, and incredibly long term plot by Bioware and EA to bump up the population of the next generation of gamers. I was pretty sure Turians and Humans, like Humans and Qurians, couldn't mate do to very different DNA. The same reason they can't eat the same food.

None of the Mass Effect species can crossbreed except for the asari, and their method of reproduction doesn't involve DNA transfer or combination. I think of the baby as human, though considering the game's own dialogue, one can view this piece either way.

Well they dont actually get much bigger until the later term. But if this is what I think it is, Turian babies dont require milk feeding anyways

I admit, deep down my inner mass effect fanatic wishes a turian/human baby was possible...but I just go with my head cannon that their baby is made up of just shepard's dna, kinda like how miranda was born.

You know after the reapers were defeated i always figured that salvaging reaper tech would jump start tech and bio-tech in general, like how the reaper made Brute by combining Turian and Krogans, Dextro and Amino lifeforms, and help with cross species health/reproduction.
