[ Clothed Version - Sleepy Midna ] [ Nude Version - Sleepy Midna ] [ Sleepy Zelda ]I had been preparing this for Otakon, but I'm glad I'm finished with it in time for AnimeNext too, even if it is last minute. This is a remake of a picture I did back in 2003. I really liked the lineart, but looking back at it, I knew I could do better by now, so I did.
Edit: 10.3.2007 - Link now has a companion piece, Sleepy Zelda .

My god there's so much to look at here. I love how you did the grass and how he looks. This is one drawing that I'm deeply impressed with and love the fandom when someone actually manages to pull this off.

It looks great! the grass has to be my favorite. whenever I draw it i draw it real fast and it turns out loopy... so you have my best regard for it. and his legs! woof! lovely... but..... my all time favorite in this piece? the shadow of the leaves on him and the mud on the boots. fine details. I love them! you so have a fav in my book!

It's a little bit of a combination of both. For the most part I painted hard-lined leaves with a standard brush, went over the area with a very splotchy custom brush to give a layered feeling, changed the type of layer it was on to... hmm, I think that one was hard light or dodge... in order to blend them with the base colors, then did a slight motion blur to give the impression both of shadow cast from a distance and shadow cast by leaves moving with a breeze.

This is awesome! Great attention to detail! There's only one thing that's bothering me...his shield is a bit...rounded. It's almost spherical. Otherwise it looks awesome.
And I don't think I've seen you submit anything for a while. Would there be a reason for that?

Hmm. I thought Link's shield was pretty rounded. The small wooden one was always flat, but not this one. I could be wrong, though. There are so many different versions of Link.
The last thing I submitted was 'Bunneh'. That was a little less than a month ago. I have been working on Second Life skins and objects, so I haven't had as much time for full, painted illustrations.
