Description Trochilidae Archilochus colubris

Ruby-throated hummingbird, male.

Again, something else from last summer... I'll have new stuff from this year soon hopefully. It's just having 700+ photos to edit screams procastination at me every time I look at the folders... I'd rather be writing or matting/framing prints right now.

Wow your hummingbird photos came out great, that must of been pretty tricky to get a photos of them, they are so darn quick.

Thanks! It takes a lot of patience to get these shots, but they're definitely worth the time.

Total beauty. In motion and in colors.

I'm doing some (megaearly beginning amateur shots) of moving creatures. Lastly an attempt involving a Dragonfly.

Anywho I have everything to learn still. I just noticed a shutter speed detail thing (in your cam data). The bird fixed in the air, a not-so-fast shutter speed blurring wing motion, ISO speed and so on.

Anywho, just picking up small things to learn more. This this shot of yours taught me a little something.

As for your capture it's really good

Thank you. I'm glad you like it, and I'm even happier if you learned something from it.

Hummingbird photography can be tricky. I like the wings blurred, because it gives you a better chance of actually seeing the bird. But it takes a great deal of added patience to get a photo where the body isn't blurred as well.
