Description
An original dragon design I created as a speed paint. It's a mix between eastern and western designs. See if anyone can guess though who this is.Related content

Nope. I don't have steps to even write out. I cannot teach anyone how to draw.

Look, if you want to know my method, it's this. There are no steps on how I draw. Therefore, I can never show anyone how to draw.
There are steps on how I paint, though.
But what you need to do is buy how to draw books. When I was a kid, I didn't go on the internet and start asking people how they draw and if they could teach me. Why, well for one, the internet wasn't even going to be invented until 14 years later, and for another, there weren't anyone in my neighborhood who knew how to draw. So, I had to buy learn how to draw books. That's what I suggest you to do. Go buy learn how to draw books. Then, if you want to continue a career in art, go to art school. That's what I did.
That was how I learned how to draw. Also, develop your artistic eye. And I can't tell you how to do that. That is something you need to figure out on your own.
Most people my age didn't email or go on messageboards asking people to take time out of their busy schedule to make a step by step on how to draw. We didn't have computers in my day, so we couldn't do that. So, we had to figure it out on our own.
That is what I suggest you do. Figure it out on your own. Pretend that the internet doesn't exist and go to your local bookstore or art store and buy how to draw books.

well thanks for crushing my moral
you see i just asked once and accepted your no there was no need to go into a long speech.
the only reason i asked is because i am broke and i am very interested in getting better at my art so i could have something on the side to earn money to buy that kind of stuff.

I had no money. 7-year old kid asked parents to buy drawing books.
And when I was old enough to mow the lawn and or start a paper route, that's where the money went to, art supplies.
I also paid attention to art classes in school and participated in extra curricular art while at school like painting murals on walls, and I was 8.
You want to learn how to draw, you learn how to draw on your own. Borrow art books from the library.
But if you want to watch me draw...and try to make sense on my method. But there are no steps. Just buy art books, buy how to draw books and pay 52 thousand dollars for art school. And you'll draw just like me.

I've posted that up a year ago.

Guess what, if you want to be serious about art, you will just have to get your ass kicked, then. A true artist is someone who is willing to defend what they do and do it without fear. True artists live through the art rather than let society dictate what they should do. If you need money, then mow lawns, go to your local newspaper and get a route. Do odd jobs around your neighborhood.
You live in a crappy neighborhood, that's not my problem, that's yours. Go clean it up then. Most artists are social activists as well. I'm a pollution activist, giving speeches in front of PhDs about light pollution and how we can fix it as well as showing of my skills in stellar-illustration. One of the local scientists who studies the moon said my artistic depiction of it was one of the most accurate he's ever seen.
In my school, if you didn't have a 4.0 grade point average, you got your ass kicked, and you were considered an outsider if you didn't participate in at least 4 different extra curricular activities.
The jocks grew up to build weapons of mass destruction later on. They could break your jaw and know 10 different ways on how to blow up a small town and every student was taught by at least a masters degree graduate. My 8th grade algebra teacher had a doctorate, and he was the Cross Country Coach too.
And if you walked into the wrong forest, you disappeared because you violated security protocols of the town. And I had a wonderful art teacher who loved what she did. She was my influence into the world of art, got me into artists like Van Gogh. I used to be able to copy perfectly Van Gogh paintings.
That's my other secret. Find an artist you like and copy with they do. Find one of the masters, though. Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Rimbrant. You'll have to go to your library.
And it's spelled neighborhood. Not naborhood.

It is not. She is female for one thing. And she is my avatar in second life. I built her before I even read the series. Som they do not have any relation.
This is Temeraire, or how I would draw him....

It is not. As I stated to others, you'd have to be on Second Life and hang out at a place called Aggro to know who that is. However, I did already spill the beans to one person in a reply. Surprised you didn't catch it.

Very nice work, I'm afraid I don't play second life so I can't fathom who that dragon would be, though I can imagine what its model in game would look like.
I rather like this design, having the long snake like characteristics without too many of the mammal facial hair like traditional eastern dragons. I REALLY like the back spine design with the gold spikes, it looks both fierce and elegant.

Alright, I'll tell.
That dragon is actually the painted self portrait of my avatar on Second Life. If you ever get on Second Life, and you see a dragon that looks like that...that's me.
And Second Life isn't a game, it's a sim.

Ah, my mistake. I forgot you can actually buy and sell stuff in that ga- er, SIM, among other things. Been passing by it here and there, I like the idea of being able to build practically anything... may give it a look.

Actually, that I didn't buy. I made. That's why I say it's original.

Hehe, I knew you made the dragon, I just meant that you would go off and buy land, houses, shoes, all that sim stuff. I thought for a while you can buy real life stuff over Second Life, but now that I looked closer I think its only virtual. I'm sure you can buy a dragon too... but I'm sure it must cost alot...
*looks it up*
Hm, this one I found for 4500L is... $22 real dollars with the fees from what I see, maybe more. Yeah... probably just try to build my own. XD

Beautiful painting. I must admit, my first thought was that this was Temeraire the chinese celestial dragon from Naomi Novik's dragon novels.
