Description
Ah, here it is, completed. I was gonna do some other stuff, but it seemed distracting. I may update it, however, I am working on the flash animation to this as well.Ah, Kiryuu Mechagodzilla Knight. Love the fact that his armor is blown off and burnt. Looks like he's about to rip someone a new one.
Enjoy.
Edit
Fixed some things...god, I'm so tired.
Also to show Kiryuu's recent image.

Whoa, just whoa.
This is just cool. As if the original Godzilla inside of the machine without him being nothing but bones? Of course, MechaGodzilla 3 just has the bones of the original bones but seeing the original Godzilla's eye coming out of that machine just makes Mecha G even more of an interesting kaiju.
I consider MechaGodzilla 3 as one of my personal favorite Godzilla monster and I enjoy seeing fan arts of him and it just proves of how of impression that he left fans and newcomers to the Godzilla franchise as myself. It's just good. Good.
5/5. Awesome

Yes I realize that Three-Way Kiryu was nothing but bones in Godzilla x Mechagodzilla and Godzilla, Mothra, Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS, but this is Kiryuu Knight from Mechagodzilla X AI. Β He's a bit of a different animal. Β He's got the breath as hot as a blue white star. Β He's got a super intelligent AI. Β By the time of the current story, Kiryuu has been President twice, Ambassador of Earth twice, a general, and the owner of a very powerful industrial company. Β And he's a telepath and a reality warper who is helping a race of godlike creatures defeat another godlike creature.
Like I said, completely different animal.

This is my first Critique, so I hope I'm being of some kind of use. *sigh*
Overall this is visually stunning, but little things catch me that really, really aren't noticable at first because the picture sucks you in. The left side of Kiryuu's face, should probably have a little more glow, now, I'm not sure whether you wanted to go for that subtle light, which is probably the case. But the red light, it should be a little more impactful for that side, it sort of seems like you fell short of the detail there compared to the beautiful right side and it doesn't seem as smooth as the light from his left eye. The reflection should follow the red (wire? ), but at a distance to balance the downward angle Kiryuu's snout was drawn in. It should also hug the second layer of plating below Kiryuu's eye, but only so much and shouldn't come down far either. Like I said, it all depends on the brightness you wanted of the object. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" title="
(Smile)" /> Otherwise, this left side is amazing. There is also a great sense of balance, head-on images are so difficult and this was executed extremely well.
As for the right side, it's his eye that's getting my attention here. Again, depending on the angle, and the fact there's armor on his face, it would really, really be impactful if his eye had a little more shimmer to it. The eye, unlike the armor, is a wet object, and therefore should reflect more light. Him being an A.I, I don't know. Do A.I eyes shine? e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" title="LOL" />
Also being that his face his incased in armor, I may be wrong and the light from the flames (explosion? ) wouldn't reach his eye all that much because the armor would cast shadow, depending on how high the rise is. But where the indentation of the armor is on his cheek, behind the string of his 'hair' corresponds with his eye as it comes down, seems like light can get to it. Yet again, the string of 'hair' is all it would need to prevent light from touching his eye, I try to think of the picture in a 3D sense and possibilities of different angles. A curve of light, almost string-thin, starting right next to his pupil, softly coming away and curving against the bottom part of his eye, finishing halfway in a point, although extremely visible, would be a nice touch. It's the little things that put a picture together. The flicks of glowing ashes was well done, and gives the picture a dramatic feel.
This is unlike anything I've seen you draw, it's very different although not totally original, pardon my saying so, and Movie Post design gives it good effect to picture and it really does cause a "Woah" reaction from the viewer. Beautiful piece! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Given that I've only had two days to do it in, I'd say...it stands on its own.
And there is a curve light, it's under all the glow though.
Kiryuu's eyes do glow when he has the helm on. The huge glow to the right was bright at first, but I felt it was distracting since this image is being made to be sent off the printers. The lighting has to be done in a different way when it is being ready for print.
I didn't want to put too much into the light reflection because that also would be a bit too distracting. It originally did have a bit more reflections and I found it just made it look awful.

Wow all that done in two days... And given the situation and perpose I see your point. Yes, too much reflection on it would have been a bit overdone.

Hey, can I ask you something? I really admire this piece and I was wondering if I could use it in one of my cards for my "G-themed Yugioh cards" series. It will be called "Techno-organic Shedding" and will be a ritual spell card used to summon "Ghost Godzilla" by tributing "Kiryu" from the field. I will give links to this piece and your DA page and give 99 percent of the credit to you.

Looks like you not only have two sides of different armor (the left looks a lot less reflective than the right) but you also have this balance of blue & red on each side too. Excellent work, I'm totally forwarding this to my godzilla-lovin' friend. :-D
π: 0 β©: 1
Ghostwalker2061 In reply to craftysorceress [2009-12-24 22:44:09 +0000 UTC]
It's not really two sides of different armor, it's the light reflecting off of the armor. The light from the right is brighter than the left, so more reflection is there. It's also where the damage is.

I saw the movies which this fantastic image was based on and in a way it makes it even more profound. As Mechagodzilla is suffering soul and wanted nothing more than to return to the sea where his bones had been once been lying at rest.

Well, you could interpret it that way, but actually that image is based on the cover I originally made for my Mechagodzilla X AI story.

i salute you and your ability to draw badarse things sir....fun thought Mr.Knight meeting and teaming up with Clive Barkers The Candyman i think they'd get along cause they both seem to be noble beings but one protects and the other kills...just a thought oh and another one crossover with Neon Genesis Evangelion would be B.A.

Saw this yesterday, but because I'm lazy bastard I'll comment now.
I cannot find enough words in thesaurus of Microsoft word to describe how awesome this picture is.
Realistic lighting and shadowing, multiple layers and the picture gives us a good view of Kiryu Knight's organic and mechanical bits.
