Description
EDIT: I have decided to just say that this is fan-art from the graphic novel as I reference quite a bit I do have character development in store for Lira* however I am inclined to agree with and simply put this piece up as fan-art for Safa* a lion who stars in the novelI have been inspired to make a new character ^^, after reading this truely stunning graphic novel called "The lions of Baghdad) (people who haven't read/heard of it read it I highly reccomend it).
I decided to make a white lion character called Lira* (who has been inspired by the lion Safa in the novel). I also experimented with the stlye from the novel and I am very pleased with the outcome ^^. I am currantly making a reference sheet for her
In other news art college is going great! and my art blockage has now died.
Lions of baghdad/Safa (c) Brian K. Vaughan, Niko Henrichon
Lira/design (c)
*Lira is also a white lion

Looks like you referenced a lot from Safa.... like a lot.
I understand you where trying to mimic the style, just looks a bit too much like last frame from what... page 3? [link] with a bit more relaxed look...
Redwolf suggests you try again. *gently pats your head*

yeah I did reference and it was a fan-art based small piece, I'm not experianced with drawing lions so I wanted to not make it look rubbish so I wouldn't have put proberly my most favourite novel down in vain (I wasn't trying to pull the stlye off as my own I like my own stlye I was experiementing).
When I become more experienced with lions I will slowly encorperate my own stlye into the mixture I used this same exercise when I first started with drawing wolves.

I understand, human copy machine was how I started, but that was mainly with Lion King stuffs until I got older, then I learned I had a photographic memory.
I didn't mean it as bad, just a bit TOO referenced if you know what I mean. You'll learn as time goes by how to mimic it, but personally I advise waiting until you've gotten it down a bit to really post much of it, since other folk become real ass's about it.
One thing I always thought was good practice was to collect a bunch of pictures, like photos from google, make a kinda collage, print the pictures out and then with a pen or pencil draw over the pictures. Not like the pure outline, but serious draw the little circle body parts and such, it really does help you learn.
Good luck!

Thank you lots for the advice ^^, I decided to change this piece into fan-art (Safa was also my favourite character from the novel so I though it was convieniant) instead just untill I can get a grasp more onto the characters development. Don't worry at all I don't mind crits or anything as long as it helps me to develop as an artist and your comments always do help on that so thank you.
Luckily I only recently paid a visit to a big cats zoo, where I took loads of images (some of which ill be hopefully uploading onto here). So ill take your advice and try that out it seems like a good technique to use . For this characters reference which I'm working on I used one of my own photos as a reference so -fingers crossed- it geos well! ^^.
thank you lots for the comments I appreciate it! .
