I have to admit, I was never really charmed by Sigmund Freud's theories, or persona. He seemed too elusive and "19th century" for me to take seriously. But after doing some research, I'm glad I gave him another chance, because a lot of his theories and ideas are surprisingly sensible, in a non-sensible way. Now that I've become more self-aware I can personally relate to some of his outlandish claims such as the "Oedipus complex", and "Oral, Anal and Phallic" thoery for instance. I admire his early attempts at making the uncomfortable, often times repressed subjects, worth discussing. For someone at that time to be so bold as to claim that "sexual energy" is the driving force behind all our actions,
takes serious balls! His "psychoanalysis" practices are nearly studied nowadays, and are met mostly with serious criticism and scrutiny, as they have always been. But take one look over the dA gallery, and you might think that Sigmund Freud wasn't that nutty after all...
