Description
The great Swiss psychiatrist C.G Jung held many interesting theories about the human mind. Not only did he come up with now commonly understood concepts such as "synchronicity" and "introvert/extrovert", he was also brave enough to delve deeper into our subconcious. Jung was intrigued by the many similar stories cultures all over the world shared with one another, and he realised that many of the reaccuring themes in these world myths appeared likewise in the dreams of his patients and himself. He used this discovery to formulate his theory of the "collective unconcious", the part of our brain formed by memories and imagery of all humanity. Many would later question his theory, but the idea of "archetypes" - a term Jung used to point out universally recognisable mental symbols - is still relevant today. Jung saw archetypes as the missing link between the individual soul and myths.Related content

Yes, I believe that he is by far my "favorite" psychologist. He really treated his patients like human beings, instead of test subjects, and sought to find a connection between all of us. He also went into territories that were considered "taboo" (and still are to some extent), or downright silly by most of his contamporaries. What made him stood out for me, as a psychologist, is that he scrutinized himself mercilessly, to a point where he descended into madness, and wrote a fascinating personal report about it called "The Red Book." Now if that isn't dedication to your craft, I don't know what is.

this is really cool, didn't know this. he always impressed me as a psychologist who *really* understands how complex the human mind really is. total dedication for sure, that explains much of his skills! you really have to be in love with something to do such a thing. i will look forward this account, thank you!
