Description
Are you tired? Depressed?"Is it the end of the world?", you question.
-Nah! it is not... Instead of getting down with depression and desperation, think of solutions. Hanging yourself up the ceiling will not solve your problems.

I was somehow amazed when I found Arif's piece about suiciding today, He had just submitted it a week ago, the same time I was thinking and designing mine... and I thought "if we are great minds, we [definitely] think alike."

Wonderfully designed and composed.
Though, I disagree with the message. Okay, sure, people should understand that suicide is not the answer that they seek, but we shouldn't just say "don't do it", rather propose means to channel and solve the cause of their depression.

I agree with you, it might not solve anything or help in solving it. I am just pointing the fact that taking one's life away because one failed in an exam or a lover had left is not the answer to that, moving on, trying again, standing up and looking for more opportunities and to make a change to oneself or to the society that one lives in is a way to go. Many people don't understand their capabilities, it's a shame!

It truly is a shame that people underestimate or undervalue their capacity in life. I am left with no means to explain that to others. It's something that comes with personal discovery. We can tell you, but until you believe it, it means nothing.

All the negativity around us force the idea of suicide, that's the real shame. That our parents stopped believing in us, our teachers, friends, family. And the saner a person becomes, the more truth is discovered; Truth is sad, my brother, it's very sad.

Perhaps it's just my inner cynic speaking (I'm lying, this cynic lives as my outer ) but the ultimate truth is that this society is just... over. Our negativity is (as you've mentioned) all around us, and I think this is manifesting itself in a personal manner through rampant suicide attempts.
Yeah *sigh, it truly is sad. I weep for humanity

We need new systems, real pleasures and more knowledge!

Ah, speaking about knowledge, on some level I blame the internet for our issues as a society. It could be wonderful; it could be our wonderful asset but it's not used to its potential.
I find pleasure in the internet; a refuge even. I enjoy engaging with the intellectuals (such as yourself) and reading columns
Again, my cynic is being revealed, I agree that 'new systems' should be introduced, but this cannot happen for as long as our society exists. I'm genuinely over this society; it needs to end.
I wish, I hope -- that's all I have left.

All the tools we have as a mankind is misused, the irrational consumption of goods is way over expected; we have lost trace of real goods and started chasing mirages of goods, like brands, trends; even when it comes to ideologies. Recently, teenagers started repeating "I am atheist" for no good reasons, they are following the trends without doing a proper research to what they want to do, or what they believe, or what they see right. People are fighting over peace which sounds pretty illogical. And protection programs are designed to serve a bigger plan. That's why any sane man is over this society. I sometimes wish that Hitler killed everyone already, unfortunately he killed himself too early.
Humanity needs a common revelation and a common goal before this species perishes!

Oh heavens. The amount of times I've re-written and attempted to post this response should be criminal.
essentially, I agree, except that i'm a bit pessimistic about my pov
Where will this much needed collective revelation come from? There's nothing that collectively challenges us as a global community that'll force this shift in mindset?
In humanity's future, i see destruction of ourselves. From there, the world may prosper without us.

I dunno if I mentioned that I am Egyptian or not; Anyways, I have seen fascinating things happening when people were in Tahrir Sq. People started calling Tahrir "Utopia" for they haven't imagined that people with the barbaric style of living can treat others with such manners and pride. I didn't leave the incident pass without writing my conclusion; People need each others when they are afraid, when they are so close to defeat and they seek survival more than anything else. "My Enemy's enemy is my friend" Imagine global warming, and people started dying, any catastrophe that will threaten our existence & survival will fasten the revelation. And then we will have to choose someone to take the lead and make a change before it becomes like Egypt nowadays, too many ill-political parties, and too many revolutionary acts against everything even goodness!

ah, yes, the arab spring! a perfect example of humans fighting and achieving a collective goal. the movement, though violent, installed a much needed revival of the human psyche. in that revolution, we knew what we stood for as a society. We actively upheld the rights we outline in the UN, and most importantly: proved that our goals can be met with active citizentry. I see it as a defining moment for our society.
I shall allow my brain to make a full consideration of the revolutions and let it tackle my pessimism. You know, maybe it's not all lost... Thank you for this engaging conversation *tips hat*

The problem with the Arab spring is what happened after the field conflict, "common" is not so common when there are passive voices that has no existence in the field, they are only active when elections take place.
Egyptians in Tahrir weren't able to determine the real number of those passive voices and they supposed that the revolution was on-going till the elections happened after one and a half year!
Meanwhile, those active voices in Tahrir have dispersed into kinds; one is waiting for the democratic solution after the current presidency period to run-up to elect a new-more-capable president, while the other is protesting against the current regime with rejecting purposes.
I enjoyed the conversation too, quite rare nowadays to talk to someone that broadens the horizons in my head; thank you!
