Likewise! It's been a while!

I've been practicing with environment techniques and I'm testing them on some older subjects.

The effects turns out pretty nice really!
I found that you prefer using darker colors?

Indeed. I think I prefer mostly dark colors, with just one or two really bright colors to accent it.

Yeah, I plan to do more.

I couldn't submit it to the group though. Almost seems like something's off with the admin status. I've still got it in my groups list on my end, but I don't see myself listed on the group page and can't submit stuff to the gallery. 0__o

Thanks! I'm hoping to improve a lot in background drawing.

Oh~ This is like a scene where epic adventure awaits them Β Really like the use of focus to differentiate distance of objects~

This was a fun, very pretty game. To be honest though, the use of focus merely covers up what I felt were a lot of errors.

love the design and atmosphere!

I could never come up with a concept like this :3

Gi1t In reply to May-May-Meow [2016-11-15 02:30:51 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Still kind of awkward though. I want to try some ideas to help me plan things out better. Doing it at random always turns out messy, even if the atmosphere looks cool. For a while now I've been watching how this guy does things:

fav.me/dammcrj

I feel like his art is not only good but very instructional when it comes to constructing an environment through relatively simple means.

Different feel altogether, so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself
His pictures are polished and sleek but you gave me more of a panning shot so I know more about the atmosphere and can guess more about what the place used to look like from your picture :3

I'm thinking largely about composition. This has the right look but it's missing that level of organization I'd like to get better at. I need to try some way to be able to plan things out better and really know what I'm drawing before I start, at least for the most part.

How about drawing an extra, rough top-down sketch of an area and then drawing the cone of sight (so the part you would show in the picture) over it?
Then you'd know what you would draw and what should peek out where :3
