Imo the eyes need to be angled with the head maybe...(turn the points at an angle just a bit... dunno it might help >> you could play with it...), as for the flattened image no idea

thanks for the tip, i've been working with the nose so far giving it texture, once i get it to a more finished state i'll probably put this one in scraps and post the hopefully better looking finished piece

A simple way to add skin texture is to make a new layer of neutral grey. Add a fine grain noise to that layer and overlay it over the areas you want to add texture too. Now reduce the opacity of that layer until it looks satisfactory. You can use a mask to blend it into the rest of the face.
In the alternative you can do the same with a flat piece of skin from the model. Desaturate it, then use it as an overlay.

Textures, I normally take a real cat nose and place it over whichever "prosthetic" I've made, Have a play with opacity and some of the blend settings, Either burn or overlay normally make something good looking. Appologies for not being able to be more specific but it really is trial and error with the opacity settings
Unfortunately I am rubbish with whiskers, But if you do them make sure that you also provide a shadow for each hair you do, I normally take my whiskers layer and duplicate it, Darken it till it is black and make sure it sits under my original whiskers. play with where it's sitting till it matche sthe angle o fthe light in the original stock. Then reduce the opacity/ fill till it is almost invisible. Its suprising just how much credance this will add to the whiskers. And when I say invisible I mean normally under 10% opacity.
Try those and see how it works out. Hope it helps
