Majin is actually a reference to an employee of Sega at that time. I forget the exact name, but basically the way "majin" is written in either kanji or katakana is very close to this man's name. Change one or two characters, etc. So they were poking fun at him in the message.
Not sure what the point of the Hell Valley Sky Trees was. They're kodamas (hence the 'tree' part). I think they were a programmer having a bit of fun. I mean, nobody's ever going to see them unless someone actually points to it.
