Devoted Legion Initiation

Initiation is the deck's "Tenki" that searches you out your main pieces. Besides that obviously good first effect, it also brings two additional handy effects to the table. Its first of these two utility effects allows you to make it so you can always Synchro Summon, in the case that you cannot Synchro Summon normally due to Guide of Devolious being the deck's only natural Tuner. The second effect is a plain and simple hand Special effect, as a way to either unbrick your hand, bait interaction, or extend even further beyond. Overall, Initiation is a simplistic card, and a perfect segway into the deck's Spells/Traps, before moving onto their Extra Deck monsters.

Trivia: Initiation is the card I remember changing the most throughout Devoted Legion's life. In its first iteration, it gave the player unique buffs if they controlled any generic Fairy Normal Monster vs if they controlled "Reficul" specifically (which would enable the first passive effect too). Back then, Devoted Legion was very lop-sided and overly reliant on specific opening hands to go anywhere. I have since thankfully tried to avoid cases like that in newer decks, but it is a bit cathartic to think about how far both Devoted Legion and myself have came since then.
