It had been weeks of trekking, the winter giving way to warm spring days, grass starting to grow in abundance. Yashmir wasn't convinced that they were still doing the right thing, that maybe they should leave Dahlia to her fate and his other mares to theirs. It was only Peanut and Ciri's determination that pushed them further from his temporary ranges, and into a more dry, rocky landscape.

It was here that he found another herd, small like his and guarded by a younger stallion to boot. Yashmir tensed ready to fight, the surprise of seeing each other raising the nerves of both the herds before the Grullo mare spoke up. She talked of sickness, that the Tobiano mare had fallen ill and needed help, that their stallion had run himself ragged trying to find help and was exhausted.

Ciri spoke up, knowing something about healing plants- offering her help and guidance to save the other mare.

It seemed they will be staying put for the time being, and dahlia will be left to fend for herself for a short time.
