Description This was taken during my reserve duty in Gaza, 2004.

The man in the photo is an officer in my unit, called Ofer.
Two hours after this was taken we were ambushed by Palestinians forces and if it wasn't for Ofer resourcefulness, this photo would have been the last I had ever taken.
We all got out safe, while the Palestinians retreat after a while.

This photo was shot through Night vision.

I agree with everything you said, and I wish it was all a matter of understanding.
I think both sides know it's better not to fight, the question is only at what price.

Think of the last argue you were in and turned into a quarrel. We all have been to this situations. Usually we figure things oyt cause its easy - it's only two people in a conflict.
Now think of millions in a conflict...

I hope things were easier - I really wish for peace and safety.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reaction, you couldnt have put it better in words and you are completely right...

it's allready sometimes even for 2 people impossible to get out and indeed when you think of a conflict where there are millions involved...

I keep on hoping for your people and for the palestine people that safety and peace will come into the area, since that's a basic right for humans...

another in your direction...

Wow, your story made me shivering.

Full of atmoshphere.
You meant that the night vision was on your eyes or the lens was "connected" to it?

The night vision mode really worked wonders for this shot.
The composition of having the humvee/rover/jeep in the background and the clarity of his battle order outfit is one amazing experimental shot.

In terms of the story behind the picture I guess that's the way it is to be part of the army and serving in such conditions.

it kind of reminds me of pictures taken just after 9-11, with that defiant "you can try, but you won't knock me down" pose and the smoke looming in the background.. such a REAL picture.
