I love the watermark of the man. Did you make that yourself or get it from stock? If you made it, what tools did you use and how long did it take?

I definitely like the demographics you developed for this. Most maps don't include that information.

The only thing that looks odd is the Arabic text next to the seal on the left. I get that this appears to be an Arabic nation, but there is nothing else Arabic related. Perhaps if you had faded Arabic writing in the background of the oceans or even along the borders, it would fit better, but it looks odd there on its own. Plus, is the writing you have there mean anything? I couldn't figure out what it means, but I have very limited knowledge of Arabic.

Click this [link] The names are outdated though, as I have adopted Arabic for the nation I play only recently. His new Arabic/Ithranean name is visible on the map followed by the words, "Commissioned by Our Supreme Holiness…" I made that with Photoshop completely. A few hours - my attention span is very short, so I always go for the easy and fast methods and as long as it provides the necessary impression of the ideas that I want to present.

The demographics are provided by World of Gotha - made by a team of excellent people devoted to their craft and this world.

The Arabic writes Al-Audhiyya Al-Ithrien, the Audhdom of Ithrien. This is an English version - I am going to replace the text with Arabic in the next. In the mean time, the English will sit and help other players of World of Gotha understand the placenames in my nation. Opaque Arabic script in the seas would provide more aesthetic appeal, but it is not necessary when I have an Arabic version planned. In fact, in the Arabic, I would make it purely informational with the effects and the figure of the Audh removed.

While I will be the first to admit that I am not an expert on Arabic, I don't think the text says anything near "Al-Audhiyya Al-Ithrien" at all. For one, there is no ra (Ψ±) and you have two nuns (Ω†) for "Ithrien." Unless I am missing something (and it is possible), I would check it. If you are fluent in Arabic, then I would greatly appreciate you explaining how that all transliterates.

The rest looks pretty good. I hope you submit the all Arabic version to the Cartographer's Guild so I will get a notice of it and can check it out.

Because the Arabic reads Al-Ithnan - The Two.

I think it would read more "Al-Athnan" as you are using the aliph-lam-aliph (essentially, "ala"). If you wanted it to read "Al-Audhiyya Al-Ithrien" it might have to look more like "Ψ§Ω„ΨΉΨ―ΩŠΩ‡ Ψ§Ω„ΩŠΨ«Ψ±ΩŠΩ†". I am not completely sure, but I do know that is closer than what is there.

Out of curiosity, if you are going to be transliterating the entire map into Arabic without being familiar with it, how did you plan on doing it? Are you using some sort of program that takes English into Arabic? If so, be very careful as those are rarely accurate.

Accuracy is not a major concern as my target audience is not Arabic. Any Arabic used is purely aesthetic. Google translate and some browser-based Arabic writer programs.

I love the layout and texture of this map!
The seal, data and legend in the lower left is perfect, and the watermark-like image of a person is excellent.
Make me want to update one of my maps, but I really don't need another project at the moment.
Out of curiosity, who is the person in the watermark supposed to be?

whats an audhdom?

An audhdom is ruled by an audh - a fictional term I invented to replace some heavy Muslim concepts of politics and governance in the Arabic language (the language I adopted for the nation I play in the World of Gotha). An audh is a religious ruler in a hereditary system with absolute powers.
