In fact, I needed to achieve a similar effect n a piece recently (not posted on DA yet) so will be interesting to see if what I did was anywhere close to the recommended way (prob not-hehe) If youβve got time to have a look Iβd really appreciate your opinion on the colouring of the work generally. I donβt do a great deal of colouring and am not that confident with itβ¦ takes me forever to finish anything too! Any pointers would be appreciated. No probs if your too busy at the moβ¦ believe me I know how that feels

Sorry bud, but I wasn't able to see the pic you colored so I can't give direct pointers, but here goes some info about how I color in general. I'll be honest, very often I take a while to pick up a piece and I sometimes fiddle around with the colors when I'm still in the flats faze until I get a mood I like. I don't have any order, sometimes I do the background first to decide what colors to use other times I do it the other way around. As for the coloring in itself, I decide what technique to use depending on the pencils/inks. Honsetly the best way is to go around the net and try out the hundred and one ways to color, I mix two or three I picked up. After building up techniques, try experimenting mixing them up. I'm still learning everyday. If you like I'll do a tut on how I color more or less, been meaning to do one for a while.
Okay, I'm sorry, I talk a lot, and in the end I'm probably not telling you anything new, but anything else and I'd be glad to help.

No probs, ginmau. Cheers for the info on how you go about your colouring work. I'd say my two main problems are that I've not read many tutorials so tend to make things up as i go along, which can be a bit long winded and tedious. I guess as i get more used to it that shuold improve but there are huge gaps in my knowlede of all the colour techniques out there. Also i'd say that i dont really enjoy it nearly as much as pencilling, but it is good to see a finished peice at the end of the day and i tend to be happy (ish) with the results, even if it takes a while.

I also love pencilling, but I don't like coloring my pencils. I guess that's because I'm not quite happy with my pencilling just yet. Gotta put some extra time into that

Cool, you should post some of your pencils! Even if you're not as happy with them as your colouring it's good to get feedback from others, which helps you learn new things.
