Something I did for class; my professor liked it, so I thought I'd share.
I wanted it to be a little surreal; Hope it's calm and peaceful enough to make your weekday seem a little less stressful~!
Dry pastels on pastel paper.
No PS editing, direct scan and crop. Scanner kinda mauled the contrast. ;_;

It's kinda small, like 8 by 10 inches, I think? I always like working small, for some reason.

In art class we're supposed to do a 'Landscape with surrealisic elements with pastels', my attempts so far went from fail to super epic fail xP Somehow it always smudges and I can't for the life of me get any highlights~ Do/Did you start with the light, dark or middle colours?

Hmmm. I started with the mid colors, then worked up a deep contrast of darks, then went in for lighting, then little details like blades of grass and blossoms.

Maybe 'theoretically' you don't but the 'start with mid-tones' works alot better than what my teacher suggested in any case! *just tried it*

I like chalk pastels, as much as charcoal. They are messy and fun. :3
