I wanted to make it look like he was rising up/being born out of the very earth and flames...
I think I got it!
anyway, I was really keen on this idea, I finally got to draw some sacred beast of my favorite element: FIREEEEEEE.

Lately I'm having hard time balancing the smoothness of digital media and the rough-randomness of real watercolor.

The lines are done in dark art pencil, then scanned, and painted in PS element 5.0
I know what you mean! I think I'm going to actually try doing real ink lines, then scanning and coloring as always.
