Description
I took the sequence of photos of a cheetah sprinting past me at the Rhino and Lion Park in Gauteng, South Africa.I sat roughly 2 meters away from it at the closest point at the end of its run. With nothing between us
Awesome experience!
The cheetah was on a leesh when they brought it out for the demonstration, but they take it off so the cheetah can run.
They have a material sack that is connected via a long rope to a motor, which pulls the sack at high speed across the ground and the cheetah, being a cat, is quick to chase.
I had my camera on sport setting for fast frame capture.
But because I did not keep the cheetah in the centre of the frame while tracking it, the closer images go a bit out of focus, but still looks cool.
I used Photoshop, photomerge function to stitch the images together, resulting in a image size of 10900 x 2100 pixels, which was too big to upload here, so have resized it a bit
The Photomerge function helped to get the right perspective through out the images, but the masking it used was not correct, so I had to edit that a lot, but I think the final outcome is fairly satisfactory.
Choose the download option to view it at 4154 x 800 pixels

gorgeous skill through the photography.
I wish the subject was more into it though. One can tell that the cheetah wasn't going full speed
In any case, awesome ability and work.

Wow that is awesome! Great photos!! That looks really cool
Final picture of the cheetah, it's tail is missing, but that was probably because of the merging XD

It is missing haha, I used the cameras auto continuous focus, and because I was tracking its head as it ran past, and because it came so close to me, the tail got cropped out the photo.

amazing!
can't help but feel sad that it's in captivity though -_- I'd rather it was free, even if we can't take such good photos that way.
It really doesn't look enthusiastic about the chase, that's a "meh stupid humans" face - well I get that impression anyways.
Poor cheetah - pets it through the screen -

Thanks
It actually was surprisingly easier than expected
I was not planning on doing a panoramic, when taking the pictures I only just learnt the stitch feature in photoshop and wanted to try it out. The photos, I took last year, but only made this recently
