You: so...Sean: Hm?
You: I was thinking
You: maybe we could y'know
You: meet up in person, soon
Your heart pounds as the 'Sean is typing...' message in the chat box appears and lingered for what felt like an eternity.
Sean: I'd thought you'd never ask. How about we get some dinner tomorrow?
Tomorrow! Such short notice, but you've been chatting with this guy for months now. Things have been going so well, you'd do anything to see him.
You: sure! I'd really love to
You: just name the time and place and I'll be there
Your words project confidence, but behind the keyboard your fingers tremble. It's been a long time since you've felt a connection this strong with someone. So many nights chatting into the wee hours of the morning, so many discovered common interests. He could really be the one, as cheesy as that sounds.
Sean: Alright, I know a great steakhouse down on State. Meet me there at like 6?
You: sounds perfect
You: but uh...
You: how will i know how to find you?
Sean hasn't shared a single picture since you met, and he even refused to see one of you, apart from your profile photo. You were put off at first, but he's had bad luck in the past with dating, and he says he believes that developing a bond based on common interests was more important than physical attractions, which you can accept.
Still, you're desperate to know what he looks like. Definitely desperate enough to overcome your social anxieties and go on a date. First one in what feels like an eternity.
Sean: I have a feeling you'll know right away. Past experiences.
You: okay..
You: if you say so
Sean: If it helps, I'll wear a bright red shirt.
You: haha
Sean: I'll recognize you, too. It'll be okay.
You: alright, I trust you
Sean: I'll see you then.
You: can't wait
The two of you say your good nights, and you turn over in bed to try and sleep, but it's no use. Your mind is racing. This is the first time you've tried online dating, and it's already going so well. Still, there's so much that could go wrong. People can be quite different in person, yourself included. Will you be too nervous? Will his mannerisms turn you off?
The biggest fear, though, dwarfs all of that. It's such a terrible thought, you're ashamed to have it. But how can you not? He's had trouble dating, and he won't show you a photo of himself. It's a real possibility.
He might be ugly.
You kick yourself each time you think that, but it's not an insignificant issue. Physical attraction is such an important factor for a relationship, right? Can you really look past something like that and love him for who he is? That's never been an issue before this online dating stuff.
Gay culture puts a lot of emphasis on appearance, and you've put effort into your own. It's hard to stand out and attract attention unless you look good. It doesn't even cross your mind that he might not be attracted to you. You feel like such a shallow jerk, just thinking that. You have to get over it!
You wrestle with the issue for hours until sleep finally overcomes you. Tomorrow comes quickly, and after work, you start heading down to the restaurant. The same thoughts race through your head as they have for the past 12 hours. What does he look like? What on earth does he look like!
It's impossible to guess! The only thing you know is his age--29. You don't even know his height, his ethnicity, hair color, nothing! He could be bald, he could have horrible acne, or be missing teeth, he might even be a woman who's been posing as a man--!
You slap your cheeks. Get your shit together, you're starting to go crazy. The only thing that matters is that you love this man, it doesn't matter what he looks like. Just remember that. That's all that matters. Right?
Deep breath. Check your hair. Okay. Let's do it.
You greet the server inside. No, thank you, just here to meet someone. You scan the restaurant, palms sweating. Red shirt... red shirt...
There! Is that... him? He looks up, smiles and waves in your direction. He recognizes you. It is him. Your heart wells up, your eyes get a little blurry. This is it, it must be him, he's wearing red... a lot of red. That is a lot of red.
As you walk in his direction, you can't help but feel your eyes widen. He's... well, he's positively enormous. Not stocky, not portly, not even just straight up fat. He's tremendous.
Holy shit. That's the only thing going through your mind.
"You made it," he says with a nervous smile.
"I did," you reply over the lump in your throat.
Your enormous date chuckles, causing a reaction throughout all that fat in his soft body. In a bit of a spectacle, he hefts his weight forward to stand up from his seat and waddles towards you with arms outstretched.
Your eyes cannot really comprehend the man in front of you, it barely registers as a humanoid form. But your brain kicks in, and you remember. This is Sean. Your Sean. The Sean you've waited months to see.
Your hesitation breaks and you dive forward into the hug. What you feel is so foreign--everything is so soft, so warm. Your arms don't even make it to his backside, but simply sink into his soft rolls of fat. You feel as though you are hugging a boulder-sized hot water bottle. It's... comforting. You feel yourself relax, sinking further in.
He pats your shoulders lightly, bringing you back to reality. Agh, snap out of it you loon! What are you doing? You step back, your face flush red. "S-sorry... I guess I've been waiting for that for a while..."
The look on his face is of surprise, but he smiles back. "It's okay. Really. I'm really glad you're here."
"Me too," you say as you sit down at the table, still a bit embarrassed. As he moves to do the same, you notice he had been sitting on two chairs pushed together. As your heart rate slows, your rational brain regains control and you find yourself in shock. His massive form settles down onto the struggling seats, in a sight that you were not prepared for in the slightest. Of all the possibilities you ran through in your head, this was definitely not one of them.
You catch yourself staring as you try and make some awkward smalltalk. You mentally scold yourself. You're making him feel like a freak, staring like that. Glancing around the restaurant, you notice that a lot of the patrons are doing the same, looking at him with looks of shock and disgust. Some people are very clearly remarking about his size. It must be embarrassing enough for him already, you have to do your best not to add to it.
Not that if you were in the same situation as them you wouldn't do the same thing. Sean is just... shockingly huge. Obesity is a commonplace thing these days, but this is on another level. He's a freak, in the literal sense of the word. You can tell just standing up and hugging took a great deal out of him. His face is flushed red, his breathing is noticeably heavy.
There's just so much of him to take in. He's unlike anything you've ever seen, and you've spent a fair amount of time on the internet! Every part of his body is thick, from his face, to his fingers. He fills up the entire side of his table, his gut pressing into the table. He rests the menu on his belly as he flips through it, the large breaths he takes raising it up and down. It's mesmerizing.
"So, you have a lot of questions, I'm sure," he says out of the blue.
You choke a little bit. You were staring again, you idiot! Just... play it cool. "I mean... I have a few," you joke, trying to keep the mood light.
He folds up his menu and folds his arms over the top of his belly, leaning back a bit. "Trust me, I'm used to it," he says with a weak smile. "So, lay it on me."
You laugh nervously. That feels like a loaded request. There's so much you want to ask, but you feel like you're walking on eggshells. "Uh... well... I'm not sure where to..."
"It's okay, really. I trust you," he smiles with a sigh. "You're the first one to make it this far in a long time."
"'This far?' What do you mean?"
He sighs again, heavier this time. "I know what's going through your head. Everyone's shocked with they see me, including people I like. You already know, I've done this many times now. I can't remember the last time someone didn't just pretend they didn't recognize me and left."
Your heart breaks, hearing that. "I see... Why do you do it, then? The 'no pictures' thing, I mean."
"It's complicated, I guess," he fiddles his thumbs a bit. "I used to share plenty of photos online, but that sort of thing attracts a particular... type of person."
"What 'type?'"
"Chubby chasers," he responds quickly with a laugh. "There's a lot of them, you'd be surprised."
"No, I'd believe it," you say, without thinking. What does that mean?
"But those guys are just in it for the thrill. It's different, I guess. It doesn't make for a good long-term thing, because once they get their rocks off, the luster is gone. I want something real, someone who sees me as a person and not just as a fat guy."
"I see..." Just how much of this attention does he get? "I mean, have you tried, uh... y'know... losing weight?"
"Oh! Don't get me wrong, now. I love my body, I wouldn't give it up. I've put a lot of work into it!"
"You mean, you gained weight on purpose?"
"Yeah. I was always kind of a chubby kid, but I liked it. I kind of like standing out, and I love food, obviously," he laughed, patting his stomach.
You're staring again, stop it! "So, uh, how much have you put on then?"
"Let's see... when I first started to do it, I weighed about 260 pounds. That was was way back in grade school..."
"How much do you weigh now?" you blurt out, desperate to know.
"643 pounds, as of this morning," he replies quickly. The look on his face is one of sheer pride. He really does love it.
You're awestruck. "Wow," is all you can manage to say. That number almost means nothing, it's so large. He's literally nearly three times your weight. To have gained nearly 400 pounds, even if it sounds crazy, it's hard to feel anything but impressed.
Just as you catch yourself staring again, the waitress approaches to take your orders. You hadn't even looked at the menu you were so distracted, so you just order a simple steak. Sean, on the other hand, appears to order one of everything. The waitress had a look of incredulity on her face as his list of requests got longer and longer, but it only adds to your disbelief. Is he really going to eat enough food for a family of four in one sitting?
"So... are you still trying to grow then?"
He chuckled, sounding much more comfortable than before. "Well, let's just say I wouldn't be against the idea. It gets progressively harder to put on any weight as you get bigger, so at a certain point I'm going to need some help if I want to keep this up."
"Oh, wow, so that was just a normal meal for you then?"
"What I ordered? Oh, yeah, that's pretty normal. I never said it wasn't cheap!" he laughed again.
You smiled, feeling yourself relax as the mood lightened. It was starting to feel like it does when you two are chatting online. He's definitely the same Sean you started falling for.
"So, it's not a dealbreaker, then?"
"W-what? Oh, your..."
"Yeah, this," he grinned, grabbing his gut by both sides and wobbling it a bit.
Your mouth went dry. Why is it so captivating, his body? Are you actually attracted to it, or is it just morbid curiosity? You can only manage to tell him the truth.
"I... I don't really know honestly..." That came out poorly; you catch yourself. "Ah! Well, what I mean is, I mean, I've dated chubby guys before but... I've literally never even seen anyone as big as you before."
"I kind of like it that way," he says with a glimmer of pride. His confidence is alluring, but you can tell he's still trying to protect himself. "But I understand, trust me."
"It's just a lot to take in... I'm not really sure what I think..." You feel your face flush red, remembering the feeling of it in your arms just minutes ago. "D-don't get me wrong though... it's not like I'm not... curious..."
His eyes light up a little. "Really?"
Your face flushes more intensely and you can't suppress the grin that wants to break free. "I mean... it's a confusing feeling but..." You look up into his eyes. "I like it."
His eyes glisten a little and he smiles, pushing his fat cheeks aside. "Really?" is all he can manage to say, again.
His face is so warm, so attractive, despite his unusual appearance. You never in your life would have thought about being with someone like him, but it feels right.
All you can do is nod furiously, a flirtatious laugh escaping your mouth. You're absolutely smitten, there's no denying it.
Your joy is infectious, and the two of you just nervously laugh together for a moment. He reaches up a hand to rub his eyes. "I'm sorry... I really was beginning to think I'd never find anyone to..." He sighs, composing himself. "Thank you, for even just saying that. For not running away."
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." And that's the truth.
He looks overcome. He coughs, shaking it off, but still visibly elated. "Alright! That's really enough about me. I haven't even told you how good you look, yet!"
You both laugh. Finally, things feel just like they felt online. Your nervousness is gone, and you find yourself more in love than ever. Your conversations flow so naturally, you barely notice the extended amount of time it takes to prepare Sean's food. When it finally does arrive, you find yourself mesmerized again, this time by his eating. He takes enormous bites, inhaling everything with no difficulty at all. It's incredible, but all you really want to do is watch him.
The night continues on this way, and he finally finishes his buffet of food.
"You, uh, gonna eat that?" he raises an eyebrow at your plate.
You look down, and realize you hadn't even had half of your meal. "Don't tell me you're still hungry, holy shit!"
"I can always eat more," he says, poking his tongue out.
You smile, handing him your plate. "You're a bottomless pit." And you love it.
When the bill comes, you instinctively try and grab it. As you reach out your hand, you notice the total and freeze in your tracks. In your hesitation, he snatches it away.
"This one's on me. I don't want to bankrupt you."
"You weren't kidding about it being expensive, holy cow."
"It's not so bad when it's the only thing you spend your money on," he chuckles. "Shall we?"
You stand up, running over to help him up out of his seats. Just touching his soft skin makes your heart flutter. You really are in love.
He waddles ahead of you towards the exit, barely fitting between the tables of the restaurant. His size still amazes you, the sheer width of his backside shifting with each heavy step he takes is positively mesmerizing. You find yourself staring yet again--along with half of the restaurant--but in a much different way. You're in lust, too. You want him.
In the parking lot, you both pause at your cars, gazing into each others eyes. Everything feels so perfect, and the urge to feel him again is overwhelming. You embrace him, just as before, sinking onto his full stomach. He rests his hands on your shoulders, as that's the best he can do in return, pulling you into him.
The warmth envelopes you, and you feel at peace. This feels right. This is what you want.
You look up from your cozy resting place on him and smile. "I love you, Sean," you say without hesitation. You really do.
"I love you, too," the enormous man replies with a warm smile and tears in his eyes.
You stretch up over his belly as best you can, standing on your toes to lean up for a kiss. It's difficult, and you're sure that people are staring at how silly this looks, but you could not care less. The two of you remain frozen there for a long time, never wanting to let go.
"I don't want to go home yet..."
"Me either," he smiles, setting you down and enveloping your hand in his. "What should we do, then?"
"Well... I had originally thought about walking down the street and window shopping but..." you trail off, patting his belly.
"Probably not a good idea. I'm getting tired just standing here," he chuckles, squeezing your hand.
"How about we get some dessert, then? My treat, this time."
"I'll make you regret that," he ribs you.
"I doubt that. Let's go."

I've experienced this before, except from the point of Sean, though maybe not quite as big. Now I understand how they were feeling, haha. Love this story on a semi-personal level.

...d'aw. I love it. It really felt like the "you"s were "me." I've shared a lot of these thoughts before. From meeting an online person in person (with all the half baked selfish vanity thoughts as well) down to reaching instinctively for the bill and hesitating from the total.
