Alas poor Medusa. But she's just not using her snakes to their full potential.
Sure freezing people into stone is all well and good, but there was absolutely awesome potential for her to become one radical shock rock personality in like an Alice Cooper Rob Zombie kinda way where her look at Snakes could make for one rocking metal bandΒ man. Its a testament to how many Greek tragedies could've been avoided if distorted guitars and emotionally charged music was avaliable to Greek Legends back nin the early days of the human species.
On a more serious note there is quite a lot of pathos that can be wrought through someone who knew of their beauty having what they would consider their greatest quality torn away from them and being left resentful of their circumstances being left to slowly freeze into stone upon even looking at Medusa's visage.
That being said, even in the case ofΒ in the case of looking at her inboth artistic renditions of modern and ancient times, would anybody be truly repulsed by her beauty? I'm sure there's probably someone out there that would look past the Snakes and deformations to find the beauty deeper inside.
But maybe that's the twist and dramatic irony of it all. In the attempt to actually look at her, the current form of her as a Gorgon forces those who want to find something more to become stone and thus leaving her in deeper isolation.
Regardless as such I think this is a perfect reflection of what became of Medusa after her transformation. The fangs and dark eyes especially. That bitterness I've seen in many a misanthrope that wants to bite back at a world that's scorned them.
You're on fire this Inktober Giulia and I'm always on the edge of my seat awaiting what you've got next man ^^
