Description
By far Botanica’s greatest victory over the Predacons was recovering a downed stasis pod and awakening the protoform within as the Maximal Nightscream. Sarcastic and pessimistic, the youthful bot resents being trapped on the jungle world and drafted into a war he didn’t start. Fortunately, he resents Blackarachnia’s attempts to experiment on the remaining stasis pods even more. Despite his caustic exterior, he has a good spark, and is unwaveringly loyal to ‘Sprouts’.-----
I spent a pretty ridiculous amount of time trying to find a suitable bat head before deciding to just make one from scratch. The ears proved to be a bit tricky; I placed steel wire in them so that they could bend into a collar in robot mode. Speaking of which, I’m quite pleased with the way his robot head came out. I must confess to a certain fondness for Nightscreams goofy hair.
Not everybody is going to like his wings, I suspect. I tried to give them a bit of a leathery look when I extended them from pteranodon wings into bat wings, but I’m not sure how well that really comes across. One thing I do like is the way they fold up to the side to give his a sort of cape-flapping-in-the-wind look. I think it helps to visually tie him in with Botanica.

don't you think you could have used waspinator's beast head for a bat head if you used that same jaw

This...is exasperatingly awesome. The ear/wire/collar is ingenious! What kind of material did you use for the wings and are the paints enamels?

Thanks! It took a little while to figure something out for the ears, but I'm glad they turned out the way they did.
The wings are extended using sheet styrene, and the paints are actually acrylics.

EEP! You responded ! Thanks for the info, but the acrylics don't really look like acrylics. Mind, this is coming from someone who never uses acrylics. Are they sealed?

Ha, they're acrylics, honest! They aren't sealed, partly because I wanted them to be as flat as possible and partly because I'm lazy and really bad at using spray paint. The specific brand is Privateer Press Paint, aka P3.

Thanks! What are the ears made of? Given that styrene isn't flexible and neither is Apoxie (I suppose it has become my job to ask annoying questions.)

Actually, they are styrene, just from a very, very thin sheet. I put steel wires along the top edges so that they could hold different shapes.

Neat. See, this totally screams 'Biofreak has never used styrene in her life'. Blarg, I feel dumb.

I always thought Nightscream had a shitty design, no offense. If he would ever make a return I demand a better design

Weren't his wings on his ankles in BeastMachines? But then again making them on his ankles would be kind of dopey. Though I'm just wondering.
He looks pretty well-done, though his 'hair' seems to resemble strips of felt for some reason.
Not a bad effort at all; his wings are a bit too light but I thought you did a good job in converting Swoop's wings.
I love how you incorperate a back-story to all your designs; it makes for an interesting insight into the characters.

Personally, I like the character better as a female, the writers originally thought of doing this before going with the show version.
I don't know why, but Nightscream just sort of seemed more interesting as a grouching brooding femme instead of a guy.
Anywho, great remodel by the way, got his colors and basic looks down perfectly.

I must admit to a certain amount of loathing for Nightscream's character. Still, you managed to make the Swoop mold translate into him well.
