Description
Download if you can't see it properly, but I warn you, the file is large! There were a few things I couldn't fit in the tips. The first thing is that another thing beginners do is not adding enough shadow. Sort of like the tiny amount in that old artwork of mine, Dashing Hearts. Basically, don't be afraid to add shadow! You'll notice in my pictures in the tutorial that it's difficult to tell exactly which one of the colours I used as the plain base colour. That's how much shading you can get away with!
The second thing is that for all of those pictures shading I used a default soft round brush. No magic tricks. Just layer up the shadows over 4 or so values, getting darker, then two or three levels of highlights is what I did. Afterwards you can blend the shadow layers together for a clean look (if your default soft brush is anything like mine, you can blend with it if you colour pick the colours off the picture). If you zoom in on most of the pics in the tutorial, you'll notice I didn't even blend it
Additionally, it would do you well to remember things are 3D. In other words, if something sticks out of the body (like large human female boobs
The older, more basic shading tutorial I mentioned:
Dashing Hearts, my oldest artwork on this account that I used here as an example:

I'm glad you learned something from it. Yellow is the worst colour because it's fairly easy to make the shading look like crap

I don't shade with colouring pencils, what I've said still applies but would be harder to actually achieve, you can't just lower the saturation of a pencil
Thanks!
