Description
An inked commission for who requested the Freedom Fighters spoof this Star Wars poster . We've also got some new battle armour for our three heroes to fit the fantasy theme.I've always loved Drew Struzan's posters, so it was a challenge to live up to his artwork in black and white. Manga Studio's texture brushes were a big help here.

This is truly amazing. Now I can actually see like a mini sonic spinoff with Star Wars. You ended up creating hopes for an AU series. Anyways keep up the great work. The artwork is fantastic.

Yeah, it was supposed to be titled "Mobian Battle Wars". He decided to choose the "Sonic Star Wars" title as a commemoration for "Star Wars Day" instead.

I know this is a commission so it's not your choice, but Sonic (or even better, Knuckles,) would be a clearer analogue for Han Solo than Tails, who actually (strictly in the comics,) strikes me as a lot more like Luke. Sonic and Sally's relationship in SatAM is also damn near a mirror for Han and Leia's.

Hmm, maybe Elias would be a better fit for Luke too, since he's Sally's brother just like Luke is Leia's brother.

That makes a lot of sense actually, although as Tails starts off as a naive child who turns out to have an incredible supernatural gift and become a selfless hero in his own right, story and personality wise he seems very close to Luke to me. Elias is harder to place in that regard, as I never got a strong sense of any kind of personality from him, not under Ian Flynn, Ken Penders, or anyone else.

Consider that Elias was separated from his family at a young age, just like Luke, and Sally never knew she had a brother, just like Leia. Elias also grew up in outskirts of civilization before returning as the mature and skilled leader that Luke grew up to be.

This is incredible! The ship below Sally and Tails is almost kinda like from the comics. And you really did a very good job onto drawing those ships into multiple places beside the Sky Patrol ship.
