Description
[STH #214]: The Ancient Onyx was stolen by the D.E.L., nearly triggering a war between the Wolf Pack and the Felidae. Sonic and Sally arrived to set things straight and were inducted into the Wolf Pack for their heroism.
All is quiet in the Wolf Pack Nation, but nearby troubles looms. Will Team Freedom figure out what's going on before it's too late? And what can they do about it? Eeek! I have to draw the next page quickly to find out!

"All" is a strong word. If it was true that universally hated by the time the community he wouldn't have then put on the IDW series, which has only improved since it started.
Ian goes out of his way to take problems and improve them.

Tell that to the part of the fanbase that LIKES his work.
You claim he's not a good writer, yet several of the arcs that came out before the comic rebooted and even afterwards were legitimately enjoyable.
And even now IDW has a rather sizable fan base because of his contribution to the series.
So yes, he is a good writer. Just because you dislike the changes he made it doesn't automatically make him terrible.
Don't talk to me about common sense when you only hate his work out of spite. At least he's still keeping the comic franchise going. Pender's on the other hand is the main reason Archie lost half if their main cast.

Sure he ended up in a vegetative state but at the very least his son started making a few better decisions than his father ever did.
As for Scourge? He was ALWAYS a jerk, it's pretty much his entire character; Sonic as a villain. And what do you get when you take away all of Sonic's good qualities? And arrogant, womanizing, self-centered jerk who only cares for himself at the end of the day.
Ian simply gave him more development in the form of changing him up so that he wasn't simply "Sonic with a leather jacket". Evil Sonic becoming Scourge allowed him to improve the character past that, changing him from a one-note villain who at best was a complete joke to a legitimate threat (remember, before his transformation Evil Sonic got knocked out by Antoine once).
Scourge is a developed villain done in a unique way, where he goes from being a joke to someone the audience loves to hate. That was the whole point.

I don't see what was irresponsible about making a joke of a villain a bigger threat. Keep in mind, Scourge is meant to be the character readers love to hate not just because of how much of a jackass he was, but also him being Sonic evil double supercharged made him a much bigger threat when Sonic wasn't focusing on Eggman or the rest of his rogues gallery.
As for being abusive to his girlfriend... where was that ever truly established? Aside from one moment during the fight where he snapped at the entire team, there was no real point where he was abusive towards her.
Also, being a rapist? That was never implied in any of the stories, sure it's straight up shown that he flirted with several girls and went out with a few of them behind each other's backs, but never once is it implied he had sexual relations with them.
If Penders couldn't get away with having it so much as implied that his skunk OC took Sally's virginity, then there's no way Sonic's evil double would have a similar implication slide, especially since tiger would have torpedoed such an implication immediately.
Keep in mind that they prevented Omega from appearing in the main comics due to him being responsible for destroying Freedom HQ and killing Snively because they didn't want one of their own video game characters to be associated with murder, so it makes you think they'd be okay with this?
You're taking the fandoms interpretation of Scourge too and projecting it onto the canonical version. Yes he has a sizable fan base, but as a memorable villain. There was no "message" being sent with him. Ian just took a character and made him more powerful and popular. What the fans themselves did with that isn't his fault.

That feels a little too minor to be considered the reaction of an abuse victim. Plus Fiona was really abused then it's highly unlikely she would have gone to the lengths that she did just to get him out of prison.
Not to mention the fact that you were blaming Ian for the way he's portrayed by the fans, which is completely unfair.
That's Penders statement, in-universe there's no actual indication that they slept together, only that at best they went out specifically because Bunnie needed a shoulder to cry on. And at least Ian TRIED to change that, you can't blame him for the end result when Penders is the one who threw that out there.
Ian did what he could regarding Max, not to mention the fact that while Max did bring most of his misfortune on himself, it's not like the heroes could just have the scoffed and leave him to his fate. At best it was treated as a tragic result of his own actions. No one is saying that Max didn't deserve it, but by this point, in his current state anything the heroes put him through would just be kicking a crippled guy it while he's down.
And as for your earlier statement about Scourge not being allowed to lose, that's completely false considering the fact that he did get defeated, just in a more creative way since Sonic had to think on his toes while Scourge was in his super form. And given the fact that Scourge has all of Sonic's worst traits and more, including his arrogance and overconfidence, it kind of makes sense that he would be defeated this way (Plus, she was technically created by vendors first, Ian just improved him).
Also, once again this is Evil Sonic we're talking about, all of Sonic's worst traits enhanced. Do you really expect him to fight fair?
And at the very least, it's better than Enerjak, who was never directly defeated and required assistance to expel his spirit.
