when using her dust red can feel little to no pain at all- her whole body goes numb. this allows her to ignore any serious injuries which keeps her fighting longer than any normal soldier could stand. it also gives her a boost to her strength and endurance, she can lift heavy objects and withstand incredible amounts of force. there are downsides, though. for one, red has trouble coming down from it, after most fights going into bouts of anxiety and hyperventilating or simply going silent for hours on end. it can take a whole night for her to feel like herself again. additionally she has trouble controlling her power (she basically "goes hulk"), and in the heat of battle can attack an ally on accident, so it's best to keep your distance.

she's just learning how to live. red has only been around for two years, so she's yet to develop any sense of self. so she can come across as abrasive because she hasn't exactly learned how to interact with people yet. red has been taking orders from orion her whole life. it's, literally, what she was created to do, so it isn't surprising that she has trouble making decisions for herself. therefore, she's become dependent on others. on the battlefield she's fine by her self, but in other situations she tends to defer to others. she's prone to arguing over petty things or running her mouth or being completely silent, but its all because she doesn't really understand how people work. red can come across as unmannerly because she doesn't quite grasp social norms (please, thank you, how was your day, ect..). despite this, red has a great wonder and appreciation for the world. even a world that seems to be falling apart, a world run by greed and dust, she seems enamored by whats around her. everything is so interesting to her, because everything is so new. not that she's completely naive, as she does have the brain of an adult, but red can see beauty where others cant. red has an odd loyalty towards orion. she feels that she's indebted to them as they're the only thing that gave her a purpose.

SXF COLOSSUS, a suit of heavily enforced armour built to withstand the brutality of the front line. it takes an incredible amount of strength to maneuver, but can turn a soldier into a tank. at the expense of your speed, of course.
ATLAS CO. ISSUED AUTOMATIC RIFLE, the standard rifle, but it gets the job done. it's a bit worn from overuse.
EDWN MARK III, her alternate weapon, a shotgun that fires incendiary rounds. it would probably blow off the arm of someone who tried to use it out of armour (ie there's tons of recoil).
GAS MASK & AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM, built into her colossus, but can be detach for mobile use when going into an area of heavy air pollution.

history dossier:

RE09's creation had been commissioned by atlas co. she was to have two months of training before they were to pick her up.
it was a short few months. R009 had been born to shoot. she became accustomed to the armour and several types of guns. she was trained to withstand great amounts of force and lift heavy weights, and she wasn't even talking back. they had her on dust by the time the atlas representatives came to retrieve her.

RE09 was a model genhuman.
if only she wasn't a woman.

she was meant to be security for one of the higher-ups in atlas. she would be a figure. it was an important job, one for someone gifted like her.
but the position was reserved for a man. they could always create another genhuman. one just like her,
but better.

RE09 was sent, instead, to orion and given a job as a dust collector. she knew it was dangerous, but she had no where else to go. no home, no family, no purpose.
she she went with them. orion was kind enough to make room in their warehouse for her. she'd never had her own room before.

eventually her new colleagues were tired of calling her RE09, so it became shortened to "red". the nickname stuck.
