All of the entries are gorgeous, congrats!!


I do find it a bit funny how "dynamic" was... Basically discarded for iconic duos instead (the selling point of the contest was to get creative, yet here we are with toothless and the light fury in first place)

But I really can't deny the absolute beauty of all these places, they deserve to win!

There's been a bit of a divide with the last movie; Quite a few people (Though only a small percentage, it seems) unsatisfied with this franchise's conclusion - and rightly so. I don't mean to spread negativity and groundless hate, I grew up with these movies and characters, and never would I have imagined not liking them or any installment. Yet this movie... disappointed me more than I can express.


I think anyone has the right to know what DreamWorks actually delivered, and what lies behind all the amazing visuals and emotional scenes. This is for anyone curious, or anyone who might've felt the same but cannot put it into words: A few, very detailed and in-depth essays that list all the issues with the story, and how it went against everything that was built up over 9 years with poor reasoning, and other implications of it's message. 


If you disagree, that's fine. Take this message as you will. These posts, albeit very long, are well worth the read.

I agree with you, Seb. The analysis isn't the issue here, it's force feeding it like fois gras farmers, implying that it's right. That's what I hate, not people who hate the film. Honestly, I feel like those who hate it are just averse to real life change. They can't handle reality. The reason I loved THW is because it's real. I'd have despised it if the dragons stayed.

The reason why I love THW is because it isn't afraid to be realistic. I mean, come on now. Hiccup's speech at the end of 2 was a deliberate bait and switch; that shit was never, EVER gonna happen. THW, for me, took the thematic elements of the trilogy and cemented it. 

I'm not saying I'm right or wrong, it's just my interpretation, which is just as correct as the critiques Miza posted.

I'm not here to argue my opinion of HTTYD 3, because that's not important, but what I'm against is the idea that "all opinions and interpretations are equal" which is certainly not true. The interpretation of the Emoji Movie from a seasoned film critic is certainly worth much higher than an 8 year old child's interpretation of it.

The people who have criticized HTTYD 3 have certainly provided lots of evidence in support of their argument, all of which are common movie critiques about character development, flow, logic, and etc. (a comprehensive analysis can be found here:  archiveofourown.org/works/1884…) You might feel that your interpretation is as valid as Miza's but until you provide the same effort in analysis that he and other people have, the typical reader will not care what you think.
