well if she is an alicorn, then it can be presumed that she is godlike, just like luna an celestia.

Technically (as others have pointed out to me) that we the fans have assigned the godlike status to the alicorns. It's quite possible that they are just far more rare, and thus much more powerful.
However I do imagine them as godlike, which makes me wonder exactly what Cadence's "domain" is. Luna is the moon & night, Celestia is the sun... Cadence's cutie-mark seems to be a sunset/sunrise, which does little to give us a clue.

I doubt parents, because she's also been titled "Princess" as well, and parents would be "King" and "Queen". Plus the male is a unicorn, not an alicorn.

They quite definitely are, in cannon.
As an interesting, more anecdotal side to the discussion, the only folks who've caught Celestia off guard are Pinkie Pie, and the god of Chaos. (which says something about Pinkie, lol) Everything else has pretty much played right into her hoof.

Er, I was actually referring to the dialogue, sorry I was ambiguous on that point, was just too much in a rush.
The flowers are called "Poison Joke," a play on the name of Poison oak, as Zecora points out. The script writers are mindful with their words, and clearly Applejack exclaiming "Thank Celestia!" was no fluke, but an insight into Equestrian culture and religion.
Applejack mentions Celestia as one invokes the name of a deity, either in joy or despair, such as "Oh my God," "Allah be praised," "Thank God," or the like. The phrase she uses indicates that the princesses are or were culturally viewed as what we would call Goddesses at least at the time of the coining of the phrase, so that Applejack says what she says even though we've seen no such indication on screen that Celestia's had anything to do with her discovery by Rainbow Dash, it was merely "divine providence." AJ could have been either rejoicing at an answered prayer, or simply happy at having a turn in fortune.

While that is an interesting arguement, it does NOT make Celestia a Goddess. It only means they view her as the highest position of authority they know. What "religion" have we seen in the show at all? None. Quite frequently in our own past, rulers were considered divine or assigned form the Gods, thus were often used in a similar way.
In short, it's not "proof" that the Alicorns are Gods, only that Celestia has province and is recognizes as the highest authority.

If you watch the opening of MLP:FiM in either season, when Celestia on her throne is shown, there's a window to her right detailing an astronomical scene.
In it is the Sun, a moon, a planet with landmasses (presumably centered on Equestria, which is a country-sort-of-thing), and a ringed planet with it's own moon.
Maybe Cadence is related to that ringed planet? Her colorscheme certainly would fit nicely with it.

personally i want to know why the alicorns are so rare, are they godlike race that only come around once in like a thousand years or did their race used to dominate the whole planet until a great event wiped all but a few out.

My personal theory is that they were always pretty rare, but then something happened that wiped them all out (with the exception of Celestia, Luna, and Cadence).
