Negative, that's "Sapper trooper" as in "combat engineer"; the word comes from an old French word for "spade", because sappers would dig trenches or fortifications to provide defense from artillery during a siege, providing a safer way to advance upon the enemy position. Also referred to as "miners", their duties could also include digging under the enemy fortifications and in order to explosively breach their walls from below; hence the term "to undermine". In RL, "sapper" is still used as a rank or general term for combat engineer in several Commonwealth armies, IIRC.
