Nice! I love it when people portray Derpy as a sort of war hero, eye patch included! Sky's a bit empty, but perhaps that for the better to make people focus on the touching scene. Well done!

I still hold that this is a war with an outside enemy, assuming this is taken in context with the war room image. Both Luna and Derpy have lost those closest to them. Dinky, in the first attack, and Celestia in the final gambit.
I imagine this is soon after Celestia's gambit has failed and word of her and the Mane 6's demise has reached Canterlot. Luna is heartbroken, having to take in the fact that her sister is gone and that the fate of Equestria now rests on her shoulders.
General Hooves sees her distress and comes to her aid. The General has come to terms with the loss of her daughter and channeled those feelings into the protection of Equestria. As a show of support she swears herself to Luna's rule and promises to help her defend Equestria, as she always has. All she asks of Luna is the courage to lead.

I know whats going on here! EP you may have everyone else going "Wait wut?" But I see where you're taking this little comic of yours, and I for one am quite pleased. It will be an epic journey that my blood BOILS to see!
This scene is amazing, and really shows the Generals loyalty to the sisters and to the country. I'm REALLY looking forward to this comic of yours, all these teasers are really building the suspense.
