Gosh this is a perfection! My favorite part of the book is the one where various parts of formations are described in details. Lem is a genius of sci fi beyond any doubt, and what makes his worlds so tangible is that he's really able to invent smth REALLY extraneous and to explain it in a highly logical way.
A brilliant work. I love the fact that you decided not to make it hyperrealistic for the planet is interacting with the scientists in such way that you doubt any real sensations.
First, i was surprised, 'the shore?' but then I realized, that is not land but a part of some formation.
Big respect to you!

Ah, yes, Stanislav Lem. One can read his books a thousand times and still, you always find a new detail, something you missed before or getting new thoughts which paint images in your mind... The viscosity of the ocean as well the shapes it creates (the tower-like ones in the background) are very well illustrated. If I'm not mistaken, the human explorers call them symmetriads and asymmetriads in the book. The colors and their layering recreate the alien landscape we imagine when following the story, but still, one can interpret (and picture) it according to ones own preferences. It reminds me also spontaneously of the Saturn Moon Titan, covered by thick clouds with the same shades of orange as pictured by Voyager 2. The astronaut (cosmonaut) has a posture which suggests astonishment. This image gives also a sensation of calmness when looking at it for a longer time. A great artwork and a good starting point to read the book.

That is so bueautiful! Right now I'm writing an M.A. thesis about Lem and it really gives me the inspiration to do it! Thanks!

Is this from the final scene of the book? One the finest closings to a novel that I've ever come across.

I'm actually re-reading the book now. Have you watched either of the movies? I like certain elements of both, but neither has an ending that comes close to the poignancy achieved by the novel's close (or your depiction of the same).
