Description
Yes, I know I'm very very behind in my messages, if you're wondering why, check out my latest journal, but I will be trying to catch up on at least the deviations in my box this weekend. In the meantime, my friend is very involved with a theater group that is putting on a production of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. Theater has always been a huge part of my life, so I had told her, if they ever needed artwork for something, to let me know and I'd do it for free if I knew enough in advance. Well, she called in the card this time and asked for something they could put on their 4"x6" postcard mailers. If you know the play, you might get the iconography, but the director specifically wanted blue roses (Jim's name for Laura) and I specifically wanted them to be still practically buds, but already starting to wilt. Hopefully, the director's ok with that

When I saw this on the front page my mind immediately screamed out "THE GLASS MENAGERIE!!!" We read the play and watched the John Malkovich-starring version of the film in AP English my junior year, and I think it's the only play/story we studied that year that I really still truly love. (Alas, the same can't be said for Ethan Frome...)
Very very beautiful roses! Makes me wish they actually existed!

This is really amazing, I have a friend that really likes roses, so I normally end up making duct tape roses for her... . This looks really nice though, I love the coloring.

Just wanted to say that as soon as read the title on my dAwatch list, I immediately thought of the play. Go fig. It's very lovely, and appropriate to the character.

I love how the blue is so bright, but soft at the same time, thats what makes it beautiful.

Wow... it's just... wow. I love it. It's very beautiful. ^^ I love blue roses, though normally they mean sadness or depression. I look at them as hope. I guess it just depends on the person though! ^^ It's very pretty. I love the shading and how you colored it in. Very... unique. I haven't seen much like it.
LoL! But it's awesomes!

"Glass Menagerie" is one of my favorite plays, so this is just... wonderful. I love how the petals are falling. So melancholy and beautiful. Great work!

I love that play!
This looks great. I like the colors on this. Those buds are colored so well and I like how they're already losing petals like that. So pretty, but kind of sad too.

I allways wanted blue flowers in my room.. and I was allways wondering how to crossbreed plants and if it was possible..
pull the bulbs apart like garlic of a purple one and put parts of them in a bulb of blue...
I dunno why I thought that could work.

Very, very lovely. If they can manage to put some text on there that looks like the old Toulouse-Latrec style posters (you know. like you put on your art -normally-, hehe) it'd look absolutely awesome.

I saw that performed a few years ago and couldn't remember the name of it for the life of me. All I could remember was "blue roses" which is immediately what came to mind when I read the title of this lovely and somber peice. Thanks for the memories ^_^
