Description

The Predators, or as they call themselves, the Yajuta, come from one of the most inhospitable

known worlds in the galaxy. A Xenomorph invasion brought by a massive meteor shower quickly saw its numbers thinned by the lack of food and hosts on the planet. This allowed the Yajuta to hunt and thin the numbers of the beasts until they corralled them into confined hunting areas.

From this point on future generations would hunt the Xenomorphs as a rite of passage. Not all of them lived, but those who survived were deemed worthy of hunting more dangerous sentient foes. The preferred prey have long been humans. Less experienced Yajuta see them as poor prey next to the Xenomorphs, but those who have had time to witness the cunning such foes bring know better.

Failure in hunting humans mandates the Yajuta commit suicide with the bomb in their gauntlet. Defeat is already a mark of shame in the Hunt, but against humans it is considered worse than a simple mark of shame.

Yajuta are stronger, faster, and sturdier than humans. But humans do have one thing they lack; numbers. Frequent Hunts lead to the Yajuta thinning their numbers while humanity grew more numerous. If humans, or any sufficiently numerous less advanced race, were able to learn how to replicate the Yajuta’s technology then they would be able to destroy them.

___

The Predators committing suicide with a nuke is somethng nobody was asking to be explained. But I thought it would be an interesting idea to state that due to their culture focusing on the Hunt, so many of them are killed, so they are far less numerous than humans. Hence they are actually afraid of humans.

I haven’t read the AVP comics. I have heard they were good and handled by people who cared far more about both franchises and executed the concept far better than the movies. One idea I have heard bounces around in those is what Predators consider the ultimate prey. Sometimes it’s Xenomorphs and sometimes it's humans. Since the bugs are mostly a threat in huge numbers I feel humans being their ultimate prey makes more sense.
