Description
People go to countries and continents in need, helping the natives by bringing need food, water, nutrients, and medical attention. That's good. Hell, that's more than good. It's amazing that they're doing that. But then there are those who bring their religion with them like it's a designer purse that they need at all times, glued to their side. They'd rather die than be caught without it.I just think that's wrong. if you're going to go help someone in need, then do just that. Don't bring religion into it. Don't try to convert them and have an ulterior motive to your kindness. Go to their country, doing what you intended to do, give them support and help. But, please, don't do it with a plane ticket to another religion tied to the package.

so true
i'm a pantheist (a type of atheism) and i would never use helping someone as an excuse to shove my beliefs in people's faces -_-

I do things out of kindness, but I believe I got that kindness from God. I mean, what is the basis of your morals then of there isn't a God? What determines what is good? Without God I can essentially stab someone, and say "this is good" and there's nothing you can do about it.Β

my morals are basic human decency, not about what a "god" tells me. i make my own decisions based on rational thinking, love for others, and respect.

Don't bother debating with them, they will do anything to make their view point fit even if you have real evidence for God they will just swat it like a fly

I dont get kindness from god. You CHOOSE to be kind (unless your brain got damaged). The basis of morals is to be fair. It's human nature to work together, and it's human nature to get mad at unjustness, even MONKEYS know morality, and THEY dont belive in god. It's all in the mind.
I dont belive in any religion, and I stick to being moral.

You do not get kindness from god if there is a god. You get it because you are not an animal. We are a thousand times smarter than animals. We really need to start acting like it too.

There is a difference between religion and God. God hates religion. Atheism is a religion, too. Just remember, that we are all sinners. And Satan is the God of this rotten world.

There was this Christian Bull Shit thing (Note: I'm not saying all Christians are like this, that would be a stereotype) I was watching
Where a guy said that he stumbled upon a man who was Stabbed. Instead of taking the man to the hospital
He took the man to a fucking church, and babbled about the bible to him.
Does anyone else see something wrong there

Well, Christianity in and of itself teaches to be kind to people because you love them, so at least in that retrospect this stamp is redundant. X)

I think the majority do when it's not too difficult, but being kind to people who disparage you and treat you like scum for your beliefs isn't just hard for Christians. X)

Agreed. It is difficult at times, for anyone.
That being said, many do not even try and simply become defensive. This happens on both sides, but I have seen many more on the religious end of things.

Christianity is actually supposed to revolve around being kind to others even if they don't really deserve it. Jesus died for our sins, despite us (as in the human race)Β not really deserving it. A lot of Christians seem to forget this and use their religion as an excuse to discriminate against people who don't agree with them. These kind of people aren't really "Christians".

This, so much this.
They should just be doing it because they care, not because their religion said so, and bribing them with help just so that the person their helping might convert to their religion is absolutely disgusting.

My advice? Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. The Jewish people on campus distribute food with little message things. They're pretty cool, and the little message thing doesn't change the fact that the food is filling and tasty, especially for the people who are struggling. The Christian people on campus give out Chick tracts with their stuff. If you want the stuff, cool! You can always toss them out and you still have free stuff. It's not like it's going to burn a hole in your hand, and "intent" is a stupid fucking thing to worry about when you have actual problems to deal with.
Making people engage in it, though (like the Salvation Army) is remarkably not okay; I won't donate to them.

Today, when i gave some homeless guy some cookies, she said "That was a very Christian-like thing to do." I then said that anyone could've done that, and they didn't have t be christian to be nice .-.
I mean, it's the human thing to do. god doesn't tell me what to do, I don't believe in him XD
