Description Ono Sendai Cyberspace 7
This is a working concept I built for fun. As well as being a cyberpunk cosplay prop it is an actual working computer with a head mounted video display.

Late to the tread. I’m impressed, and now I might need to build a deck. would be interested in any build pics you have.

Hey, I came across pics of this when doing a google search for DIY portable PCs (and later cyberdecks when I found out what they were, lol) and I gotta say that this is pretty crazy-awesome.Β

Turns out the Tragbare RechengerΓ€t (Portable Computational Device) that I'm working on building is basically a Dieselpunk cyberdeck, lol (although it's mainly meant to be used with its touchscreen display, so it's essentially a DIY tablet, especially considering that it'll be based around a Raspberry Pi 3B+).

Heck, this has given me an idea for what I want to do with this broken Canon ES-3 portable electric typewriter I got for $0.95...

Just out of curiosity, what's it got under the hood as it were?Β  I'm guessing some type of Mini-ITX board with a flex/right angle adapter for the PCI-Express slot for your video card?

Thanks! This one has the guts of an old cheap laptop on it. My red one has a Pi3 in it. Currently I'm designing a 3rd that will use a Pi3 B+ and include a touch screen.

The Raspberry Pi 3B+ is a pretty impressive little system:Β  I must admit I was pretty skeptical about how useful a $35 computer the size of an Altoids tin would be, but when I found out it had better overall specs than the (at the time) near top of the line desktop I built when I was stationed in Japan in 2002, I decided to get one to play around with, and it works great as an internet/media player PC, which is what I was using the old Pentium IV for up until about 4 years ago when it finally kicked the bucket, and the price is hard to beat.... As a matter of fact, I'm ordering another one tomorrow for this dieselpunk Home Theater PC project I also have on the go right now (the potential case is currently at my uncle's machine shop for some tricky millwork that I don't have the tools or capabilities of doing at home right now).

Also, I did not know that you were also the guy who turned that old Commodore 64 into a cyberdeck as well!Β  Anyways, I look forward to seeing what else you come up with for your 3rd cyberdeck project.

Ho ho ho, that's a good one chummer! I have never had a head mounted video display before but I suppose it works the same as a monitor?

Exactly, there's a VGA port you can use for either the HMD or a regular monitor.

Interesting! I feel inspired to make a cyberdeck like yours too. The head mount video display is a good substitute for a datajack!

This is so awesome! One of the coolest things I've seen, I like all the stickers on it.
